Effects of Pistacia terebinthus seed meal and different storage times on egg quality of laying hens R. Bras. Zootec.
Gultepe,Eyup Eren; Cetingul,Ibrahim Sadi; Uyarlar,Cangir; Iqbal,Aamir; Rahman,Abdur; Hacisalihoglu,Suleyman; Ozcinar,Umit; Bayram,Ismail.
ABSTRACT The present study examined the effect of supplementing the diets of laying hens with Pistacia terebinthus seed meal on egg quality during different storage intervals. A total of 192 laying hens (Babcock) were divided into six groups, and each group was further divided into four subgroups with eight hens each. Pistacia terebinthus seed meal was added to the diets of laying hens in the experimental groups at a rate of 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 g kg−1 of feed. At the end of the study (56 days), a total of 288 eggs (48 eggs from each group) were collected randomly. Seventy-two eggs were analyzed on day zero of storage, while the other eggs were stored at a temperature of 4 °C. The remaining eggs were analyzed after 10, 20, and 30 days of storage. The...

Sousa,Lorena Salim de; Carvalho,Thiago Soares Martins; Nogueira,Flávia Aparecida; Saldanha,Mariana Masseo; Vaz,Diego Pereira; Bertechini,Antônio Gilberto; Baião,Nelson Carneiro; Lara,Leonardo José Camargos.
ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to ascertain the influence of different dietary fiber sources and the usage of xylanase on diet of commercial layers and their influence on productive performance, egg quality, and digestive organ biometry. A total of 864 Lohmann® White hens was fed diets with three different fiber sources (wheat bran, soybean hull, or coffee husk) with or without xylanase inclusion (concentration of 160,000 BXU/g) in a 3×2 factorial arrangement, with six replicates of 24 birds each, from 25 to 44 weeks of age. There were no interactions between dietary fiber and xylanase inclusion. The enzyme supplementation did not influence any parameters evaluated. There were dietary fiber effects on body weight gain, viability, egg weight,...

The role of yeast culture (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) on performance, egg yolk fatty acid composition, and fecal microflora of laying hens R. Bras. Zootec.
Özsoy,Bülent; Karadağoğlu,Özlem; Yakan,Akın; Önk,Kadir; Çelik,Elif; Şahin,Tarkan.
ABSTRACT This study investigated the effects of different levels (0.05, 0.1, and 0.2%) of yeast culture supplementation on body weight, feed intake, feed conversion ratio, egg production, egg weight, egg quality traits, egg yolk fatty acid composition, and microbiological flora in feces. A total of 240 laying hens at 18-19 weeks of age were divided into four groups and fed a basal diet containing 2750 kcal/kg metabolizable energy and 16% crude protein for 16 weeks. The basal diet was supplemented with 0.05, 0.1, and 0.2% commercial yeast culture product obtained from Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The different levels of yeast culture supplementation to the diets did not statistically affect body weight change among the treatments. However, feed intake was...

Effects of melamine or urea-formaldehyde or their mixture on performance in laying hens Thai Agricultural
Srisuda uda Sirilaophaisan; Jowaman Khajarern; Bundit Tengjarernkul.
Experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of melamine or urea-formaldehyde or their mixture on performance in laying hens (19-34 wk of age). Three hundred and twelve ISA Brown laying hens were allocated into thirteen dietary treatments, with four replications and with six hens each were fed with feeding trial for 112 d (4 x 28 d period). The diets were formulated to contain four graded levels (0.25, 0.50, 0.75 and 1.00%) of melamine or urea-formaldehyde (UF) or an equal mixture of both and also with no added for negative control. There were no significant effects on feed intake and survival rate (P>0.05) among each group. Egg production (EP), egg weight (EW), egg mass (EM) and number of egg were decreased (P<0.05), with the greatest...

Níveis de lisina e treonina digestíveis na ração de poedeiras comerciais sobre a qualidade de ovos - DOI: 10.4025/actascianimsci.v31i1.2745 Animal Sciences
Matos, Maíra Silva; UFG; Leandro, Nadja Mogyca; UFG; Carvalho, Fabyola Barros; UFG; Stringhini, José Henrique; UFG; Café, Marcos Barcellos; UFG; Lopes, Karina Ludovico; UFG.

Matos, Maira Silva; UFG; Leandro, Nadja Susana Mogyca; UFG; Stringhini, José Henrique; UFG; Café, Marcos Barcellos; UFG; Carvalho, Fabyola Barros de; UFG; Gomes, Natali Almeida; UFG.

Control of Salmonella enterica serovar Enteritidis in laying hens by inactivated Salmonella Enteritidis vaccines BJM
Freitas Neto,Oliveiro Caetano de; Mesquita,Aline Lopes; Paiva,Jaqueline Boldrin de; Zotesso,Fábio; Berchieri Júnior,Angelo.
Salmonella Enteritidis is one of the agents that is responsible for outbreaks of human foodborne salmonellosis caused by Salmonella Enteritidis and is generally associated with the consumption of poultry products. Inactivated Salmonella Enteritidis cell vaccine is one of the available methods to control Salmonella Enteritidis in breeders and laying hens, however results in terms of efficacy vary. This vaccine has never been tested in Brazil, therefore, the present work was carried out to assess three commercial inactivated Salmonella Enteritidis vaccines allowed in Brazil. Four hundred white light variety commercial laying hens were obtained at one-day-of age. At eight weeks old, the birds were divided into four groups with one hundred animals each. Birds...
