Survey of bryophytes in Serra da Canastra National Park, Minas Gerais, Brazil Acta Botanica
Carmo,Dimas Marchi do; Peralta,Denilson Fernandes.
ABSTRACT Serra da Canastra National Park is located in southwestern Minas Gerais State and contains several phytophysiognomies of the Brazilian Cerrado. To date, no study on bryophytes has been conducted in this area and the present study is the first to be carried out in this major biological reserve of Cerrado located on the Brazilian Plateau. This study found 289 species of bryophytes, including mosses, liverworts, and one species of hornwort, representing fourty-one Brazilian endemic species and 56 new records for Minas Gerais State. Most species are widely distributed in Brazil, with only 16% having restricted distributions. Regarding worldwide distribution, 31% are Neotropical. Lejeuneaceae had the highest species richness among liverwort families...

The bryophytes of Trindade Island, South Atlantic, Brazil Acta Botanica
Faria,Allan Laid Alkimim; Carvalho-Silva,Micheline; Costa,Denise Pinheiro da; Câmara,Paulo Eduardo Aguiar Saraiva.
Trindade is a Brazilian oceanic island located about 1,200 Km east of the Brazilian coast (between 20º 31' 30" S, 29º 19' 30'' W). The island originated from the abissal zone about 3 million years ago, has a maximum altitude of 620 meters and an area of 9.28 Km². Even though the fanerogamic flora is known, there were virtually no data on the bryophyte flora. Four expeditions to the island were carried out during two years and approximately 431 specimens collected. This work presents the Bryoflora of this island, which comprises 32 species, including 20 species of liverworts distributed among six families; the most speciose being Lejeuneaceae with 11 species and Frullaniaceae with four. There are also 11 species of mosses distributed among eight families,...

Richness of Marchantiophyta and Bryophyta in a protected area of the Brazilian Amazon Acta Botanica
Macedo,Luciana Priscila Costa; Ilkiu-Borges,Anna Luiza.
The bryophytes of Gurupi Biological Reserve represent an important component of the biodiversity of the Amazon in the Brazilian state of Maranhão. This study aimed to investigate the richness of bryophytes (Marchantiophyta and Bryophyta) from Gurupi Biological Reserve and compare it with that found in other surveys conducted in Maranhão and in the northeastern part of the state of Pará, because the latter shows similarities with the study area in terms of vegetation, geography, demography, and history of occupation. We recorded 983 occurrences of bryophytes (549 Marchantiophyta and 434 Bryophyta) corresponding to 62 species (43 liverworts and 19 mosses), 39 genera, and 12 families. Of those 62 species, 25 have previously been collected from all regions of...

Species richness and composition of epiphytic bryophytes in flooded forests of Caxiuanã National Forest, Eastern Amazon, Brazil Anais da ABC (AABC)
CERQUEIRA,GABRIELA R.; ILKIU-BORGES,ANNA LUIZA; FERREIRA,LEANDRO V..
ABSTRACT This study aimed to compare the richness and composition of the epiphytic bryoflora between várzea and igapó forests in Caxiuanã National Forest, Brazilian Amazon. Bryophytes were collected on 502 phorophytes of Virola surinamensis. Average richness per phorophyte and composition between forests and between dry and rainy periods was tested by two-way analysis and by cluster analysis, respectively. In total, 54 species of 13 families were identified. Richness was greater in igapó forest (44 species) compared to várzea forest (38 species). There was no significant difference in the number of species between the studied periods. Cluster analysis showed the bryoflora composition was different between várzea and igapó, but not between dry and rainy...

Aquatic oligochaetes associated with bryophytes in an Atlantic Forest stream Biota Neotropica
Rodrigues,Luciana Falci Theza; Santana,Lucas Deziderio; Alves,Roberto da Gama.
There are few reports in the literature about the colonization of benthic macroinvertebrates on bryophytes. The aim of the present study was to analyzed the oligochaetes established on bryophytes adhered to stones in a first-order stream. The collections were carried out in an Atlantic Forest fragment area during the dry and rainy seasons. We identified 15 taxa from a total of 422 oligochaetes specimens, of which the most abundant were Pristina sp.1, Enchytraeidae and Pristina jenkinae. Unlike other habitats, where the abundance of macroinvertebrates tends to be greater in the dry season, we did not find any significant differences in the abundance, richness, composition and diversity between the two periods. The results of this study indicate that...

Morpho-ecological characterization and composition of rocky fields bryophytes in Brazilian Cerrado Boletín de la Sociedad
Marchi Do Carmo,Dimas; Fernandes Peralta,Denilson.
The aim of this study is to provide information about ecological relations and floristic composition of bryophytes community in Brazilian Cerrado rocky fields in Minas Gerais state. There are few works of bryophyte communities and their relation with this environment for Brazilian Cerrado, besides this, these environments are submitted to several intense treats. For this study nine transects of 50 m with total of 45 plots were randomly sampled in order to analyze the composition and morpho-ecological traits of bryophytes communities. The diversity measures were performed using the PAST and EstimateS software to perform the clustering of the species found between the tree different areas of rocky fields. We found 176 occurrences of 47 bryophytes species in...
