A translation of the Chinese description of a female of Neallogaster annandalei (Fraser, 1923), by Zhou (1988) is given and compared with the original description of Anotogaster annandalei. It is concluded that this species should be included in the genus Cordulegaster. A translation of the original Chinese descriptions of Cordulegaster jinensis Zhu & Han, 1992, and Neallogaster choui Yang & Li, 1994, is presented. It is suggested that the two species are conspecific. Material of "Cordulegaster luniferous var. annandalei Klots, 1947" from Yunnan is identified as Neallogaster latifrons Selys, 1878 (?), by which the presence of Neallogaster in China is confirmed. |

East Palaearctic Cordulegastridae from the former Lieftinck collection are identified. Two Neallogaster species are described and figured. Neallogaster is supposed to consist of two speciesgroups. Cordulegaster lunifera and C. pekinensis are redescribed and figured. A single female from Central China belongs to C. jinensis. It is assumed that these three Cordulegaster species belong to a separate supraspecific taxon. A single male Cordulegaster from 'Tsingtau" is not conspecific with other cordulegastrids known from China; it resembles the European C. boltonii and will be described as a new species in a revision of the C. boltonii species-group. It is emphasized that the cordulegastrid fauna of the East Palaearctic is still insufficiently known. |

A re-examination of the female holotype of Libellula (Oligoclada) abbreviata Rambur (1842) from Cayenne, deposited in the collection of de Selys Longchamps at the Brussels Museum, has brought to light that this is a female of Oligoclada raineyi Ris (1919), described after a single male from British Guiana. It could be compared with a pair captured in copulation of Oligoclada raineyi Ris (1919), from the interior of Surinam. The misidentified male of O. abbreviata discussed by Ris (1911), is now named O. risi spec. nov. A copulating pair of this insect was also found in Surinam and has been used for the redescription of that species. |

Classifications in mate systems of Odonata are generally based in the male ability to control the female access to oviposition resources. In this paper we discuss the criteria for male territory selection in the dragonflies Perithemis mooma Kirby and Orthemis discolor (Burmeister) (Libellulidae), in Viçosa, Brazil, controlling the availability of perches and aquatic vegetation. P. mooma males defended territories with vegetation and thus their choice was probably related to the oviposition resource of the females. O. discolor males preferred sites with tall perches, possibly because their choice was related to a mate-seeking resource. Interactions with another libellulid more active and aggressive, Planiplax phoenicura (Ris), changed the preference of O.... |

Abstract Dragonflies and damselflies (Insecta: Odonata) are widely distributed among freshwater ecosystems of tropical and temperate environments. They are also particularly sensitive to anthropogenic changes. The objective of this study was to inventory the odonate fauna of a section of the Sucupira Reservoir on Rio Uberabinha, Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, Brazil, and to document the species composition of the odonate fauna during the dry and rainy seasons. The study also aimed to describe the distribution of the sampled species in Brazilian states. Sampling took place in August and September of 2017 (dry season) and in February and March of 2018 (rainy season), and recorded 860 individuals of 43 species belonging to 26 genera and six families. Six new... |

Argentagrion Fraser, currently considered a synonym of Homeoura Kennedy, is revalidated; both genera are rediagnosed and their species illustrated, keyed and mapped. Ischnura sobrina Schmidt is transferred to Homeoura, and a new species, H. obrieni is described, resulting in five species being included in Homeoura (H. chelifera (Selys), H. lindneri (Ris), H. nepos (Selys), H. obrieni sp. nov. and H. sobrina (Schmidt) comb. nov.) and two in Argentagrion (A. ambiguum (Ris) and A. silviae Bulla). |

A preliminary inventory of the Odonata from Iberá Wetlands and their area of influence (Corrientes, Argentina) is presented. Different kinds of environments were surveyed in seven localities. Seventy five species grouped in 33 genera and seven families were registered, from which three genera and 10 species are new records for the country. The localities belonging to the Iberá Wetland system show low endemicity and a high faunistic relationship with the Paraná basin. |
