Plantios de cupuaçu em monocultivos ou como componentes de sistemas agroflorestais (SAFs) são amplamente disseminados na Amazônia brasileira. Em ambas as formas de plantio há ocorrência de insetos associados à cultura, destacando-se os pertencentes à ordem Coleoptera e Lepidoptera, conhecidos popularmente por besouros e mariposas, respectivamente. Espécies pertencentes a essas ordens são broqueadores de frutos e/ou de madeira, causando prejuízos consideráveis, dependendo dos seus níveis populacionais. Dentre os lepidópteros considerados pragas do cupuaçuzeiro, Magulacra nigripennata Dognin (Lepidoptera: Cossidae), conhecida popularmente como "broca-do-ramo-terminal", "lagarta-flamenguista" ou "broca-dos-ramos", é uma das espécies de relevância econômica. |

Em junho de 2015, produtores de uva de mesa de Lagoa Grande, PE relataram danos em flores e bagas causados por uma pequena lagarta. Esta foi identificada como Lasiothyris luminosa (Razowski & Becker) (Lepidoptera:Tortricidae), espécie até então não conhecida como um inseto-praga (CostaLima et al., 2016). O único registro existente da espécie, havia sido feito em 1969, no município de Brusque, SC (Razowski; Becker, 1983). Portanto, até o momento, trata-se de uma praga descrita apenas no Brasil. Considerando-se os danos causados por L. luminosa, em 2017, a espécie foi incluída na lista de alerta da Organização Europeia e Mediterrânea para Proteção de Plantas (EPPO, 2017). The problem of the clogging up of sea water pipes by Mytilus edulis larvae is a very real problem. A study has been made of the ways to destroy these larvae, (1) by electricity (publication in preparation), (2) by ultrasound. This last technique has given interesting data, but exploitation of results on a large scale presents many difficulties. An interesting general phenomenon is to be underlined. For ultrasound treatments of short duration (10s), many larvae are simply stressed and recover later on. For longer treatments, there is actual dislocation of the larvae and instant mortality, this mortality increases with time. |

Agroecosystems consist on complex trophic relationships among host plants, herbivores and their natural enemies. This article reviews the research of plant volatiles in Brazil, in order to determine multiple resistance mechanisms of economically important crops and to contribute to the understanding of insect-plant interactions. Most pest management programs, including chemical and biological control, do not consider the impact of these chemicals on herbivores and their natural enemies. The silverleaf whitefly Bemisia tabaci (Genn.) biotype B has become a serious problem for soybean cultivation because it can significantly reduce soybean productivity. The use of soybean cultivars resistant to whitefly attack is an important strategy in an integrated pest management (IPM) program. The objective of this study was to characterize the Peruvian isolate of Metarhizium anisopliae var. acridum, CG 863, obtained from the grasshopper Schistocerca interrita, a crop pest in Peru. The characterization was done by comparing this isolate with two other ones of M. anisopliae var. acridum, from Brazil and Australia, and with an isolate of M. anisopliae var. anisopliae. The three M. anisopliae var. acridum isolates had similar growth profiles in agar plates at 25°C and 37°C, and similar RAPD patterns according to the analysis of three primers. The objective of this research was to evaluate the effect of the insect resistant soybean genotype IAC 17 on reproductive characteristics of Podisus nigrispinus (Dallas) (Heteroptera: Pentatomidae) females compared to the soybean insect susceptible genotype UFV 16.
