This book aims at telling about our common learning in projects in different parts of Uganda, where farmer families and local communities have worked since 2009 to improve their livelihoods and environments based on common learning about organic and agroecological farming, joint efforts for better livelihoods and community development, using the approach of ‘Farmer Family Learning Groups’ (FFLG). Som resultat af projekterne kan drages følgende hovedkonklusioner om kompostering af fæces fra mennesker: Fæces fra de undersøgte typer af kompostbeholdere bør ikke anvendes til jordbrugsformål uden viderebehandling, da dette skønnes at være behæftet med hygiejne- og sundhedsrisici. Det skyldes, at der ikke blev dokumenteret egentlige termofile temperaturstigninger i fæcesmaterialet i komposttoiletenhederne i Hjortshøj, Dyssekilde og Sverige, samt at fækale indikatorbakteriers antal varierede voldsomt, og der ingen entydig tendens var til forekomst af lavere kimtal ved lange opbevaringstider af de opsamlede fækalier. |

The purpose of this work was to evaluate the influence of moon rhythms on yield of carrot roots under biodynamic management sowed in different dates. The experiment was carried out over a two period on a biodynamic farm, in Botucatu, São Paulo State, Brazil. Rhythms were tested observing the effects of seeding at different planting dates. The experiment was performed with four randomized blocks and 31 treatments (different dates) in 2005, and fourteen treatments in 2006. The harvest was made 82 days after sowing. Effects associated with planting at a specific lunar position were measured by the deviations from the trend curve. Syftet är att undersöka hur mycket överskottet och förlusterna av kväve och fosfor kan minska i jordbruket genom lokal och regional anpassning av växtodling och djurhållning i enlighet med principerna för kretsloppsbaserad ekologisk odling. Studien genomförs på utvalda ekologiska typgårdar med till den egna foderproduktionen anpassad djurhållning i för landet representativa avvattningsområden. Resultaten från balansräkningar och mätning av växtnäringsförluster ligger till grund för jämförelser med dagens jordbruk och förslag till sådana förändringar av jordbrukets struktur som kan leda till minst en halvering av förlusterna. Produktion og forbrug af fødevarer er ansvarlig for et betydeligt bidrag til de globale udslip af driv-husgasser. Udslippene skyldes direkte udledninger af drivhusgasserne metan (CH4) og lattergas (N2O) i forbindelse med produktionen. Disse drivhusgasser har henholdsvis 21 og 310 gange krafti-gere drivhuseffekt end CO2. Drøvtyggernes fordøjelse er den største enkeltkilde til metan udled-ning, desuden kommer der metan fra gødningslagrene. Lattergas dannes, når kvælstof omdannes ved mikrobielle processer i jorden. Derfor øges udslippet af lattergas, når jorden tilføres kvælstof-gødninger. Landbruget har endvidere et energiforbrug (direkte og indirekte), som også bidrager til udledning af CO2. |

Kompostering er metoder der organisk materiale, for eksempel matrester, hagerester, halm og/eller husdyrgjødsel, omdannes til næringsrik jord og humus.Organismer som trenger god tilgang på luft sørger for omdanningen, og komposten bør derfor stelles som et levende dyr. Den må ha en riktig blanding av mat (organisk materiale), vann og luft. I tillegg må den vendes og blandes. Sluttproduktet, kompostjorda, har ulike kvaliteter og bør brukes deretter. |

Das Projekt „Entwicklung und Erprobung eines Agroforstsystems im ökologischen Landbau zur Energieholzgewinnung“ ist eine Kooperation der beiden bayerischen Landesanstalten für Landwirtschaft (LfL) und für Wald und Forstwirtschaft (LWF). Die Versuchsstandorte liegen in der nördlichen Münchener Ebene bei Freising und im südlichen Frankenjura in der Nähe von Kaisheim. Organic farming standards regulate allowable nutrient inputs according to the core principles of: reliance on renewable resources, recycling of wastes and by-products of plant and animal origin, and feeding of plants through the soil ecosystem and not through soluble fertilizers, balanced against a goal to produce high quality products with a minimum level of contaminants. A new cost-effective system for complete exploitation of OMW is suggested, offering a viable solution to the problem of OMW disposal. Use of the proposed separation techniques prefiltration (PF), Ultrafiltration [UF], nanofiltration [NF], and reverse osmosis [RO]) produce byproducts that might include additional benefits. A pilot plant was developed in an olive mill operating in Achaia (Patras, Greece) during an olive harvesting season. Large volumes of OMW produced daily were treated systematically in a semibatch procedure to identify problems relevant to long-term behavior and reliability. The farm model was built according to the data from 9 Finnish organic farms. 20% of area produced cash crop and 80% was used as fodder in milk production on the farm. The model indicates that there is high potential (up to 30% compared to Finnish average) to reduce nitrogen losses in agriculture. The key factors are integration between crop and animal production, limited nutrient intensity according to the system itself and BNF. The crop rotation used in model can support milk production with relative high intensity.
