New localities for 24 species of sigmodontine rodents in Argentina are reported based on records obtained by direct trapping and/or the analyses of owl pellets. This report includes the first Argentinean record for Akodon boliviensis and Necromys amoenus. Additionally, we extend the known distribution for Akodon budini, A. sylvanus, A. toba, Necromys cf. N. lasiurus, Calomys musculinus, Loxodontomys micropus, Phyllotis osilae, P. xanthopygus, and Phyllotis wolffsohni. Finally, additional localities for Abrothrix illuteus, A. longipilis, Chelemys macronyx, Notiomys edwardsii, Necromys lactens, Bibimys chacoensis, Holochilus chacarius, Oecomys sp., Oryzomys angouya, O. legatus, Reithrodon auritus, Rhipidomys austrinus, and Euneomys mordax are reported. Calomys laucha (Fischer, 1814) es un pequeño roedor filotino (<20 g), ampliamente distribuido desde el norte de Paraguay y el sureste de Bolivia hasta el sur de Brasil, Uruguay y el centro de Argentina. En esta contribución, ofrecemos una actualización sobre la composición genética de esta especie. Nuestros resultados apoyan hallazgos previos que indican que la especie está compuesta por dos clados principales, uno que abarca las poblaciones del sur de Brasil, Uruguay y la Mesopotamia argentina y otro que incluye las del resto de Argentina, Bolivia y Paraguay. Cerradomys is a Neotropical genus of cricetid rodents with seven recognized species, Cerradomys subflavus, C. maracajuensis, C. marinhus, C. scotti, C. langguthi, C. vivoi, and C. goytaca. Species of the genus are distributed throughout the open vegetation belt across South America, from northeastern and southeastern Atlantic coast of Brazil to eastern Paraguay and Western Bolivia. ABSTRACT The taxonomic identification of micromammals might be complicated when the study material is fragmented, as it is the case with pellets and fossil material. On the other hand, tooth morphology generally provides accurate information for species identification. ABSTRACT The cuticle is the outermost of the three cellular layers of the mammalian hair. It comprises numerous keratinized scales, whose morphology, combined with other microscopic characteristics of the hair, confers characteristic signature traits to various different species. This study aimed to analyze whether the cuticular patterns of the aristiform hair had any signature implications for the two species of the genus Abrawayaomys Cunha & Cruz, 1979. Akodon molinae (with 2n = 42-43-44 and an FN = 44) shows a remarkable polymorphism of chromosome 1 in natural and laboratory populations. Specimens 2n = 42, named single homozygotes (SH), have a chromosome pair 1 formed by two large metacentric chromosomes. Specimens 2n = 3, heterozygotes (Ht), have one chromosome 1 and two medium-sized subtelocentric chromosomes, 1a and 1b, which are homologous with the long and short arms of chromosome 1 respectively. Se estudió una muestra de roedores sigmodontinos fósiles provenientes de las proximidades de Tafí del Valle, provincia de Tucumán, Argentina (26º 51' 43'' S, 65º 43' 06'' O, 2007 m de altitud). Una datación radiocarbónica efectuada sobre restos óseos permite referir la muestra al límite Pleistoceno- Holoceno (10,25 - 9,65 ka cal. AP). El conjunto está dominado por los filotinos Calomys cf. C. musculinus (Thomas) y Phyllotis sp., seguidos por Akodon spegazzinii Thomas y Reithrodon auritus (Fischer). Se estudiaron aspectos taxonómicos y paleoambientales de un agregado de micromamíferos coleccionado en sedimentos pleistocénicos de Ramallo (33° 29' S, 60° 01' O, partido de Ramallo, provincia de Buenos Aires). Los sedimentos portadores pueden referirse a la parte superior de la Formación Ensenada (Piso Ensenadense, Biozona de Tolypeutes pampaeus ) con una edad algo más joven que 0,78 Ma.
