The Beef CRC's 'Sustainable Beef Profit Partnerships' (BPP) project is built around the Sustainable Improvement and Innovation (SI&I) Model – a model for the design, leadership and management of projects to achieve rapid and sustained improvement and innovation, and accelerated adoption. The model is implemented through a systemic approach to project design, and the development of a number of integrated strategies to guide the targeting of priority outcomes and work plans. The emphasis is on a sustainable project methodology such that the intended outcomes can continue to be delivered long after the Beef CRC funding is terminated. Further, there is an emphasis on rapid implementation of the process in the short-term such that outcomes can be generated... |

The focus of the study was to identify strategies for the production and distribution used by the company as a factor of competitiveness. Using primary and secondary data, it was possible to define the parameters of competitiveness of the company, and the characterization of the industry. Thus, could be noted that: i) the marketing of potatoes in Brazil has undergone radical changes in recent years, ii) that the importation of frozen potatoes, are reaching considerable slices of the market, reducing further the disputed Brazilian market, and iii) that McCain... |

The EU Framework 7 project “RuralJobs” has used the DPSIR model to show the link between ‘driving forces’ of employment and economic prosperity, and policy responses. These driving forces can be ‘endogenous’ or (neo-) ‘exogenous’ to the territory. They act on the labour market or employment (‘state’) through the ‘pressures’ of jobs (economic activities) and people (the labour force). In turn, the employment rate (jobs per person) influences the ‘impact’ (sustainable economic prosperity). ‘Responses’ can be policy responses or socio-economic responses. A set of 40 indicators was compiled from strategies and programmes relevant to employment in rural areas in the EU. |

Australian farmers operate in one of the most risky environment in the world. They have to cope with various sources of risk in their businesses. This paper reports results of two case studies undertaken to examine the issues of farming risks and risk management strategies in Australia. The first case study found that climate variability, financial risk, marketing risk, and personal risk were regarded as the major sources of farming risk in the Upper Eyre Peninsula of South Australia. The main management strategies used by farmers included diversifying varieties, minimising tillage, minimising area of risky crops and maximising area of the least-risky crop, having high equity, having farm management deposits and other off-farm investments, and "leaving... |

ABSTRACT This study presents an empirical examination of climate change related to vulnerability impacts on food security and remedial adaptation options as a suitable strategy by prioritizing needs over a 50-year period. An Empirical Dynamic Commutable General Equilibrium Model for Climate and the Economy (EDCGECE) is applied using future strategies for Malaysia against a baseline scenario of existing conditions, following the top-down options. The model takes into account various climatic variables, including climatic damage, carbon cycle, temperature and rainfall fluctuation, carbon emissions, vulnerability and carbon concentrations, which were adapted from national observational predictions of climatic changes caused by global warming from 2015 to... |
