Aquatic Oligochaete Communities in Amazonian Streams, Saracá-Taquera National Forest, Pará, Brazil Biota Neotropica
Bevilacqua,Maria Silvina; Marchese,Mercedes Rosa; Felix,Rodrigo Weber; Leal,João José Fonseca; Barros,Marcos Paulo Figueiredo de; Bozelli,Reinaldo Luiz; Esteves,Francisco de Assis.
Abstract: The aim of this study was to analyze aquatic oligochaete distribution in relation to water column physicochemical variables, structural environmental variation, and predominant substrates in the preserved Amazonian streams of the Saracá-Taquera National Forest (FLONA Saracá-Taquera), northwest Pará, Brazil. Oligochaetes are widely used as bioindicators for monitoring aquatic environments as they are very sensitive to pollution and environmental changes. Physicochemical and structural variables were measured from 100 stream segments in order to understand the distribution of oligochaetes in Amazonian streams. Biotic samples were collected using Surber samplers in three of the most predominant substrate types in each segment. PERMANOVA testing...

Microbial production of citric acid BABT
Vandenberghe,Luciana P. S; Soccol,Carlos R; Pandey,Ashok; Lebeault,Jean-Michel.
Citric acid is the most important organic acid produced in tonnage and is extensively used in food and pharmaceutical industries. It is produced mainly by submerged fermentation using Aspergillus niger or Candida sp. from different sources of carbohydrates, such as molasses and starch based media. However, other fermentation techniques, e.g. solid state fermentation and surface fermentation, and alternative sources of carbon such as agro-industrial residues have been intensively studied showing great perspective to its production. This paper reviews recent developments on citric acid production by presenting a brief summary of the subject, describing micro-organisms, production techniques, and substrates, etc.

In vitro germination and acclimatization of cambui tree type seedlings Ciência Rural
Lédo,Ana da Silva; Barin,Luciana Borin; Silva,Ana Veruska Cruz da; Sá,Francielen Paola de; Machado,Caroline de Araújo.
There are few reports in literature on the in vitro behavior of cambui tree (Myrciaria tenella O. Berg) and acclimatization conditions. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of culture media on in vitro germination and the effect of different substrates on the acclimatization of two Myrciaria tenella types. The study was carried out at the Embrapa Tabuleiros Costeiros Laboratory of Plant Tissue Culture, Aracaju, SE. Seeds were extracted from fruits of two Myrciaria tenella types: Orange and Purple Types. The seeds were inoculated in the following culture media: T1 - MS medium + 30g L -1 sucrose, T2 - 1/2 MS medium + 15g L -1 sucrose and T3 - control without MS salts. To study the effect of substrates on acclimatization, seedlings were...
