Effects of water salinity and organomineral fertilization on leaf composition and production in Passiflora edulis AGRIAMBI
Souza,José T. A.; Nunes,Járisson C.; Cavalcante,Lourival F.; Nunes,Juliete A. da S.; Pereira,Walter E.; Freire,José L. de O..
ABSTRACT An experiment was undertaken in Remígio County, Paraíba State, Brazil, from July 2013 to May 2014, in order to evaluate the effects of saline water irrigation, bovine biofertilizer, and potassium type on soil salinity, leaf macronutrient composition, and production of yellow passion fruit cv. BRS Gigante Amarelo. Treatments were distributed in randomized blocks, arranged in a 2 × 2 × 2 factorial design, with reference to electrical conductivity of the water (0.35 and 4.00 dS m-1), soil with and without bovine biofertilizer, and application of potassium chloride as a conventional treatment (KCl) and in an organic polymer-coated form, supplied monthly. Bovine biofertilizer was diluted in non-saline water (proportion, 50%) and applied via water at a...

Physico-chemical characteristics of passion fruit flour under removal of flavedo and of maceration AGRIAMBI
Silva,Elaine C. O. da; Silva,Wilton P. da; Gomes,Josivanda P.; Silva,Cleide D. P. da S. e; Souto,Leidjane M. de; Costa,Zanelli R. T..
ABSTRACT Passion fruit has the peel (albedo and flavedo) as its major component and it can be used in the production of flour as source of nutrients and enrichment of food products. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the production of flours from passion fruit albedo and whole peel, verifying the influences of flavedo removal and maceration, as well as the variation in drying temperature (70 and 80 °C) on the physical and chemical characteristics of the flours. The flours has a light color with slight trend to red and stronger trend to yellow. Moisture content is within the limits established by the current norms of ANVISA (a maximum of 15%). The flavedo removal contributed to the increase of water, crude fiber, neutral detergent fiber and acid detergent...

Passiflora edulis Sims: the correct taxonomic way to cite the yellow passion fruit (and of others colors) Rev. Bras. Frutic.
Bernacci,Luís Carlos; Soares-Scott,Marta Dias; Junqueira,Nilton Tadeu Vilela; Passos,Ilene Ribeiro da Silva; Meletti,Laura Maria Molina.
Passiflora edulis, the passion fruit native from Brazil, has several common names (such as sour passion fruit, yellow passion fruit, black passion fruit, and purple passion fruit), and presents a wide variability with the different rind colors of its fruits, which are very easy to notice. However, in 1932, Otto Degener suggested that the yellow passion fruit had its origin in Australia through breeding, calling it P. edulis forma flavicarpa, and that it could be distinguished by the color of the fruit, the deeper shade of purple of the corona, and the presence of glands on the sepals. These distinctions do not support themselves, for the glands are common to the species (although they may be absent), and the corona has a wide range of colors, regardless of...

CHARACTERIZATION OF Fusarium oxysporum ISOLATES AND RESISTANCE OF PASSION FRUIT GENOTYPES TO FUSARIOSIS Rev. Bras. Frutic.
TEIXEIRA,LETÍCIA MAGALHÃES; COELHO,LÍSIAS; TEBALDI,NILVANIRA DONIZETE.
ABSTRACT Passion fruit wilt, caused by Fusarium spp., is one of the most severe diseases for this crop. Although yellow passion fruit is propagated mostly by seeds, the use of rootstocks tolerant to early death could be a management strategy for cultivation in areas with disease history. Thus, this study characterized Fusarium isolates obtained in Triângulo Mineiro and determined the most suitable genotype to use for grafting to reduce losses caused by this pathogen. Mycelial growth and sporulation of Fusarium isolates, in three different growth media, was quantified by measuring colony diameter and by counting the conidia in Neubauer chamber 10 days after growth in malt extract-agar 2%, PDA or CMA at 22 ± 3ºC and 12 hours lighting. Five days later the...

Scaling the number of plants per plot and number of plots per genotype of yellow passion fruit plants - doi: 10.4025/actasciagron.v36i1.17697 Agronomy

There is a demand for research on yellow passion fruit plants (Passiflora edulis Sims) used for juice production. Thus, the present study aimed to determine the number of plants per experimental plot and the number of plots per genotype for different properties of passion fruit. The data used were obtained from an experiment (Tangará da Serra, Mato Grosso State, Brazil) that assessed 13 fruit properties in eight genotypes of yellow passion fruit plants, with 10 replicates and 10 plants per plot. For each of the 80 experimental plots, the optimum plot size (Xo) was estimated by the method of maximum curvature of the coefficient of variation model. The number of replicates for each genotype and the means were estimated through the use of 10 plants per plot,...

Control of Colletotrichum gloeosporioides (penz.) Sacc. In yellow passion fruit using Cymbopogon citratus essential oil BJM
Anaruma,Nina Duarte; Schmidt,Flávio Luís; Duarte,Marta Cristina Teixeira; Figueira,Glyn Mara; Delarmelina,Camila; Benato,Eliane Aparecida; Sartoratto,Adilson.
The use of antibiotics in agriculture is limited when compared to their applications in human and veterinary medicine. On the other hand, the use of antimicrobials in agriculture contributes to the drug resistance of human pathogens and has stimulated the search for new antibiotics from natural products. Essential oils have been shown to exert several biological activities including antibacterial and antifungal actions. The aim of this study was to determine the activity of 28 essential oils from medicinal plants cultivated at CPMA (Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Collection), CPQBA/UNICAMP, against Colletotrichum gloeosporioides (Penz.) Sacc., the anthracnose agent in yellow passion fruit (Passiflora edulis Sims f. flavicarpa Deg), as well as evaluating...
