Pre-germinated brown rice (PGBR) is known to contain abundant nutrients such as oryzanl, dietary fibers, vitamin E, B1, B3, B6, magnesium, antioxidant, and gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA). In the mammalian nervous system, GABA is an inhibitory neurotransmitter that its activation modulates the release of several neurotransmitters including glutamate. Glutamate neurotransmission plays an important role in learning and memory and its alteration has been reported in drug addiction. However, little is known about the effect of PGBR on the brain functions even though many studies have focused on the process of GABA improvement in PGBR and claimed that PGBR can affect brain functions. Moreover, there are no studies about the effects of PGBR on the brain after... |

Research on evaluation of deepwater rice area in Thailand: resent situation and future trend was conducted in 2013. Secondary data collection from the Department of Agricultural Extenion and simple field survey were basic methodology of this research. The objective of the study was to evaluate the deepwater rice area and trend of this production system in Thailand. The research found that in 2012 The deepwater rice covered an area of 388,977 rai (6.25 rai equal to 1 hectare) scatter in 46 provinces. The top five provinces of deepwater rice production area were Prachin Buri, Nakhon Nayok, Pra Nakorn Si Ayutthaya, Chaiyaphum and Nakhon Ratchasima covering and area of 110,509; 60,652; 55,367; 43,175; and 37,057 rai, respectively. Objective of the present study was to investigate influence of transplanting methods, namely, parachute” and wet seeded culture, on growth, i.e., height and tiller number/bunch, incidence of disease outbreak, soil quality and yield of “Hommali 105” rice cultivated organically. Results showed that the transplanting methods played insignificant role on growth as well as the incidence of disease outbreak (p0.05). However, the “parachute” transplanting method led to higher tiller numbers/bunch and rice yield than that obtained with the wet seeded method, 27 against 5 tillers/bunch (p<0.05) and 1.7 folds, respectively. Further, during cultivation, soil qualities in terms of pH and content of organic matter, nitrogen and potassium appeared to be comparable... |
