| Relative amounts of phytoplankton, bacteria and microzooplankton are determined in the composition of the suspended matter of the south Atlantic anticyclonic circulation waters (February-March, 1973). Water sampling for suspended matter and determination of the organism biomass was performed from one and the same bathometer. Comparison was made relative to dry material. The total biomass of organisms in suspension composition varied from 23.9 to 0.7%, reaching the maximum values in the littoral upwelling zone and gradually decreasing towards the central regions of the ocean and with depth. |

| A relative heterotrophic potential of microplankton was studied in the south-western sector of the South Atlantic anticyclonic circulation according to accumulation of 14C labeled organic substrates: hydrolyzate of Diatomeae, hydrolyzate of Dinoflagellata, glucose, glycin, leucine and glycolic acid. The microplankton heterotrophic potential is shown to depend on the types of the water masses. The concentration of the introduced substrates being 0.2 mg/l^-1, the microplankton heterotrophic potential of different water masses varied between 0.009 and 1.4 mgC/m^3/day. | У 882 экз. ставрид рода Trachurus - обыкновенной (T. trachurus trachurus), капской (T. trachurus capensis), океанической (T. picturatus) и черной (T. trecae), отловленных от Северного моря вдоль африканских берегов до побережья Намибии, найдены 5 видов моногеней. Описан новый вид Heteraxinoides atlanticus sp. n. Cemocotyle trachuri Kovaljova, 1970 сведен в синоним C. trachuri Dillon et Hargis, 1965. Уточнены детали морфологического строения C. trachuri и Diplectanotrema trachuri. Показаны вариации в зараженности ставрид моногенеями в зависимости от вида хозяина и района исследования. |

| The content of resting vegetative cells was studied in bed silts sampled at different time. The taxonomic composition of dead and living algae occurring in the silts is established, the data on their sizes and morphology are presented. The data show that the number of the living resting cells in the silts exceeds essentially the quantity of that of analogous species in sea water. On the basis of the data obtained an attempt is made to explain certain problems connected with the seasonal changes in the number and taxonomic composition of phytoplankton. |

| The Tripterygion Risso larvae are first found in the Black sea plankton. The time of the species spawing is established and the data are presented for the number of the larvae in the growth biocenoses of Cystoseira, Zostera and Phyllophora. The morphology of the Tripterygion tripteronotus Risso larvae, 4.6-11.5 mm in size, is described, the data on the qualitative composition and diurnal rhythm of the larvae nutrition are presented. A dependence is established between the size of the larvae and their mass. |

| Processing of 700 bathometer assays sampled in April-August 1976 was the basis to analyse distribution of microzooplankton in seas of the Mediterranean basin and south-western sector of the South Atlantic anticyclonic circulation. It is shown that in seas of the Mediterranean basin the planktonic communities in the period of the studies were at different stages of the seasonal succession. In the south-western Atlantic the development of microzooplankton is associated with different origin of water masses and dynamic processes in the southern subpolar front zone. | Copper accumulation in the mussels organisms was found at doses less than those at which there occurs intoxication of the animals. Lethal termination comes with the copper content of 45-70 mg/kg mussel ash dry mass. The range between the minimum toxic dose and absolutely lethal one for mussels is within the limits of 25-125 mg/l. During the first 48 hours copper is accumulated in the liver, muscles, gills, gonads, mantle fluid. On the 12th day of the experiment the highest amount of copper is found in the gills. The accumulated copper is excreted by the organism for 30 days. |

| Approximately 90 species and varieties of planktonic algae were found near the north-western of Africa in the period between late December 1972 and early January 1973. Diatoms from the Chaetoceros and Rhizosolenia genera prevailed. The highest number (about 100 mill. cells/m^3) and biomass (500 mg/m^3) were obtained near the African shelf. The bulk of the phytoplankton mass was concentrated in a 0-50 m layer. |

| Данные о миксоспоридиях рыб Кельтского моря в литературе отсутствуют, за исключением небольшого сообщения о заболевании путассу, вызванном миксоспоридиями Myxobolus aeglefini (Гаевская, Ковалева, 1976). При исследовании паразитофауны рыб, выловленных в юго-западной части Кельтского моря в декабре 1974 - марте 1975 г., обнаружено 15 видов миксоспоридий. | Seston amount in seas of the Mediterranean basin in the 0-100 m layer varied within relatively large ranges and tended to decrease eastward. In the south-western Atlantic the highest values for seston were obtained in regions of the subpolar front and in the adjacent waters. In the subantarctic water mass the seston volume indices were 1.5 times as high as in warm waters of the moderate zone of the southern hemisphere. | Hydrocarbon-oxidizing microorganisms were isolated in the vast area of the Atlantic Ocean, the North, Baltic and Barents seas. It is established that alongside with the ability to utilize different hydrocarbons of oil and oil products, these bacteria are able of utilizing the intermediate products of their oxidation such as fatty acids and amino acids. The cited microorganisms are also able of mineralizing organic substances of all classes normally available in sea water. |

| Analysis of size and sex composition of populations of the Amphipoda four mass species from the Mediterranean sea. Hyale comptonyx (Heller), Elasmopus pocillimanus (Bate), Jassa falcata (Mont.) and Corophium bonelli (M.-Edw.), collected in May-June 1974 in the ports of Venice and Barcelona, shows that they are similar. Young, impuberal specimens prevail in the summer population composition of the Amphipoda species and recently matured males and females dominate among the reproducing ones. | Stable zinc of the n*0.0001 g/l concentration is observed to influence the radioactive zinc exchange. The inhibitory action of zinc ions is found at a concentration of n*0.01 g/l. Taking into account the rapid growth of Ulva rigida Ag. and its ability of concentrating zinc up to the accumulation coefficient values of 1-5 * 10^3 it is possible to recommend the alga cultivation for sea water purification. |

| Suspended matter with a particle size typical of the sea and ocean suspensions (0.4-100 mkm) in water of the estuary sections of some rivers inflowing into the Black and Azov seas averages to 18.5% of total silt content. In this connection the contribution of the rivers sediment runoff contribution to the suspended matter of the World ocean is estimated. Thus, the contribution made by all rivers of the terrestrial globe is calculated to be 3000-7000 mill. t per year, the losses resulted from sedimentation of the particles at the junction of the river and sea waters being taken into account. |
