| This article is a study of phisionomic biogeography. It describes the vegetation (trees and forests, scrubs, grasslands, brazilian savannas, etc.) on the “Vale do Paraíba paulista” (East of the São Paulo state, Brazil, South America) in two periods – 1817, when the vegetation conditions were primitive, and 2007, when the vegetation conditions are very different. It describes yet, the historic process of occupation in this area and the modification of the natural formations. | The Paraíba do Sul river basin is located in Brazilian southeast region and is composed by 180 districts from São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro states. Based on an IBGE research results about districts environment, it is analyzed the environmental problems ant their reasons. In this context, the water pollution and erosion questions are analyzed in district extent. | The objective was to evaluate a reforestation carried out by the goldwashers. The studied area is situated along the Gualaxo do Norte river margins in Mariana - MG. The seedlings were received by donation of regional nurseries and were planted on December of 2006 in hole of 25x25 cm and plant spacing 3x2 meters. The evaluations were carried through on March of 2007. The height was measured with metric ribbon and the diameter, 5 cm above the ground, was done by using digital pachymeter. They planted 538 seedlings of 20 different species, pertaining to twelve botanical families. | Every day kids and adolescents received a lot of information by the media, making them be away of their own natural environment. Using a special didactic material (specific profile and water analyze kits) , the main propose of this project was to involved the students of a poor neighborhood of Campos do Jordão, to make a deep analyzes about the environmental conditions of the stream that pass by near their school. During a semester students were invite to analyze the river, the water quality, the abundant vegetation and the urban occupation along the river and it influence. This analyze allow the students build their own conclusions, enrich the learning process and developing values through the natural resources. |

| This project has the goal of providing ecological awareness to students from Ramão Gomes Portão State School. This school is located in periphery of the city of Guaratinguetá. In this region there are three small streams connected to Cacunda Creek that further connects to Paraíba do Sul River, which is the main river of this city. Field research has been used as a way to stimulated students to develop ecological sense, since the problems had been presented to them and their solutions depend on student’s actions. | The objective of this work was to quantify the area of compensatory forestation (AFC) for the retention of water in the soil in the Itaim Stream watershed, in Taubaté, SP. The estimations were based on the Compensatory Forestation for Water Retention in Small Watersheds (FCRAM) methodology that takes into consideration the following parameters: 1) the international percentage of water that has to infiltrate into the soil equal to 20.55%; 2) land cover and use classes; 3) soil permeability; and 4) mean annual precipitation. | O presente trabalho tem como objetivo analisar os processos de mistura no sistema estuarino do Rio Periá (Maranhão State, Brazil) e zonear o sistema através da classificação de Kjerfve (1987). Foi utilizado o modelo matemático de Dyer e Taylor (1973), para analisar os processos de mistura. Para obtenção dos objetivos, a batimetria do sistema estuarino foi levantada, e com a mesma foram delimitados os limites atingidos pelas marés alta e baixa. | The objective of this study is to evaluate existing temporal and spatial patterns in the precipitation historical data in the Paraíba do Sul watershed, using newly available geostatistical analysis. Resulting rainfall maps showed pronounced regional and seasonal variations as well as a strong association with the topographic map. | This work describes the way as the system of Administration of “Paraíba do Sul” river was elaborated for the accompaniment of the evolution of the bed and obtaining of a diagnosis of the present and potential problems, for a previous planning of the necessary actions in the sense of avoiding the erosion or silting of the fund and of the margins of the river, inhibiting the development of problems that you/they can win larger proportions in the future. | A correct election of potential evapotranspiration (PET) equation is critical for water balance estimation of forest. The objective of this work was analyze the PET equations of SIMGRO model (SIMulation of GROundwater). SIMGRO model solves water balance in the unsaturated zone and the acuifer of diverse landuse covers, forest inclusively. The water consumption of the Eucalyptus dunnii was measured in a commercial forest. The weather data was measured daily and the humidity contents were measured up to 2 ms of depth monthly. The experimental sites were two: 1) old mounts, 8 years old and 2)young mounts ,2 years old.
