Pedigree information is incomplete by nature and commonly not well-established because many of the genetic ties are not known a priori or can be wrong. The genomic era brought new opportunities to assess relationships between individuals. However, when pedigree and genomic information are used simultaneously, which is the case of single-step genomic BLUP (ssGBLUP), defining the genetic base is still a challenge. One alternative to overcome this challenge is to use metafounders, which are pseudo-individuals that describe the genetic relationship between the base population individuals. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the impact of metafounders on the estimation of breeding values for tick resistance under ssGBLUP for a multibreed population... |

Genotype-environment interaction (GEl) in beefcattle can be characterized by the change of the ser of genes which express a trair in function of the environment production. Genetic correlation between the trair studied in different environments measures the extent in which this change occurs. The aim of this study was to evaluate rhe existence of GEl on eighteen monrh weight (EMW) in Canchim cattle. through genetic correlations obtained by bayesian inference. Three different clusters of cicties in the State of São Paulo. homogeneous with respect to environment variables. were considered as the environments. The statistical model included the fixed effects of contemporary group and age at weighing (covariate). and additive and residual random effects. The... |

The objective of this study was to compare a conventional genomic model (GBLUP) and its extension to a linear reaction norm model (GLRNM) specifying genotype by environment interaction (G*E) for tick resistance in Brazilian cattle. Tick counts (TC) from 4,363 Hereford and Braford cattle from 146 contemporary groups (CG) were available of which 3,591 animals had BovineSNP50 Illumina v2 BeadChip genotypes. The reaction norm covariate was based on CG estimates of TC from a first-step model. Analysis was conducted based on adapting the single step GBLUP/REML procedure. Fivefold cross validation based on K-means and random partitioning was used to compare the fit of the two models. Cross validation correlations were strong and not significantly different... |
