| Introduction : Intra-basin fishing is not grasped as well, partly because of a lack of distinction between pure professional fishing units and conchological units and on the other hand because of the large amount of ships. Poorly adapted codification of the equipment found in the basin is also contributing to this lack of information. Studies on the subject do exist, but the elements necessary to publish notices are not always gathered, this is leading to the proposal of a geographical systemic analysis on the basin. | In 2020, the Zostera noltei seagrass bed monitoring, located on the transitional water body FRFT08 Bidassoa (Txingudi Bay, Hendaye - Pyrénées Atlantiques), was carried out from a grid of 30 sample points ("stationary" monitoring) and from a mapping within the framework of the WFD. The "angiosperms" indicator established on this water body is based on 3 metrics (composition, extent and abundance). In 2020, the calculation of this indicator classifies the water body in "Very good condition". This result is explained both by a significant increase in the seagrass bed surface area, from 1.9 ha in 2018 to 4.5 ha in 2020 and by a good abundance. |

| For data-limited stocks (DLS), professional fishing data can be used as a potential source of information, especially in the absence of appropriate scientific survey, to understand abundance evolution under realistic hypothesis on resource catchability. This work focuses on a data-filtering approach, the selected fishing effort must reflect vessel activity that is least dependent on their technical characteristics and as stable as possible over time. | Striped red mullet (Mullus surmuletus) belongs to the species for which individualization of stocks is advanced by ICES in western Europe for areas including the Bay of Biscay and the areas bordering the Iberian peninsula. Since 2012, ICES has provided recommendations with regards to this stock. These recommendations are given for two years and are based on an approach adopted by ICES in 2012 in the case of insufficient data for an analytical evaluation (Data Limited Stocks, DLS). | The ROMELIGO project included a proposal of abundance indicators for pol-89a stock using professional fishing data. The methodolgy is based on the selection of a sample of representative vessels grouped in a cluster with the same technical characteristics, taking into account their LPUE for specifed period and area. The analysis was conducted on an historical dataset from 2005 to 2015. To be able to update it, a conditional decision tree was used to find rules to assign any new vessels to one of the predefined GNS clusters. | Certaines masses d’eau s’avérant parfois déclassées par cet élément de qualité, le groupe de travail DCE « Eaux Littorales » a sollicité de la part des scientifiques une réflexion sur les raisons de ce mauvais classement et les éventuelles actions de restauration ou d'amélioration de connaissances relatives aux herbiers de ces zones. | The striped red mullet (Mullus surmuletus) is a species for which ICES advances individualization of stocks in Western Europe. One of them concerns the Bay of Biscay, the waters bordering the Iberian Peninsula as well as the Celtic Sea, namely striped red mullet in Subareas and Divisions 6, 7a-c, e-k, 8, and 9a (Mur. 27.67a it-k89a). | The new protocol, established by Auby et al. (2012) to the seagrass monitoring under the Water Framework Directive, was used in Txingudi bay (Hendaye, France). Based on 3 metrics ("taxonomy", "extension" and "density"), the quality index of the water body for the angiosperm indicator, was "medium", while it was in "good condition" in 2012. These results are explained by a sharp drop in the density observed on the monitoring station. The cartography of the species distribution showed a decrease of the total area of seagrass, particularly in the southern part of the mudflat. However, further north, small intertidal seagrass spots appeared. Atypical weather conditions in 2013 (cold, heavy spring rain) with silting of this area, could explain this situation. |
