| This study concerns mainly 2 species Merluccius capensis and M. paradoxus; M. polli is a more northern species though the 3 species are known to inhabit the same regions. The life cycle, seasonal migrations geographical distribution and fishing grounds of the 2 main species are discussed in detail. The intensity of fishing in this region, over the past 10 years has increased to such an extent that during 1968 -1970 this production accounted for one half level on a world-wide basis. Attempts have been made by Britain to market this fish as a frozen product. |

| Au cours de l'année 1966, la pêche du merlu au filet maillant se développe sur les côtes françaises de l'Atlantique. Les premiers mois, ses rendements bien supérieurs à ceux du chalut lui attirent un grand nombre d'artisans dans presque tous les ports du Golfe de Gascogne. Son développement est rapide, mais très vite, les apports diminuent en qualité et en quantité. Ce type de pêche subit alors une désaffection aussi brusque que l'a été son extension. Treize mois après son introduction, cette technique est presque entièrement abandonnée. Nous avons pensé qu'il serait intéressant d'en retracer l'historique, d'étudier la composition de ses captures et l'évolution de ses rendements. |

| ln the Bay of Biscay, during 1986, there were a beaching -strand of Dalatias licha. One the one hand, the cod, Gadus morhua, spawning during winter, one the other hand, the meagre, Argyrosomus regius and Senegalese sole, Solea senegalensis, spawning during summer were more numeros than usual. There are probably connections berween their higher relative abundance and temperatures of colder last winters, for the cod, and warmer summers, for the two other fishes. One witch, Glyptocephalus cynoglossus were caught in the south of 46°N. One double-headed foetus of spur-dog, Squalus acanthias is recorded. NOT CONTROLLED OCR |

| Les auteurs en réalisant ces clés ont cherché à le présenter pour chacune des espèces, un certain nombre de caractères permettant de les déterminer avec certitude. Toutefois, sachant par expérience qu'une utilisation fréquente de clés conduit souvent l'usager à les améliorer, même à les modifier, ils remercient à l'avance tous ceux qui leur feront parvenir leurs critiques. Seuls sont pris en compte les poissons de l'Atlantique nord-est signalés entre le 30e et le 80e parallèle nord, les espèces strictement méditerranéennes ayant été écartées. Les noms de famille, de genre et d'espèce sont suivis des numéros de code utilisés dans le CLOFNAM (1973). Le lecteur y trouvera la bibliographie et souvent l'origine de l'iconographie utilisée dans ces clés. |

| During 2002, along the French coasts, three living specimens of Regalecus glesne are recorded, one of them at Cap Ferret, first record in the Bay of Biscay, two others in the Mediterranean sea between Marseille and Cassis. Among the trawl catches in the Bay of Biscay by N/O "Thalassa", we have observed two specimens of Chlorophthalmus agassizi, one of Callionymus reticulatus recorded for the first time along the Poitou-Charentes coasts, four of Mentodus rostratus and one of Photostylus pycnoptcrus. | From the 8(th) to the 11(th) April 2007, at Reunion Island (Indian Ocean), some fish were collected at sea surface after the eruption of the Piton de la Fournaise. Among these were eleven specimens of Neocentropogon profundus (Scorpaenoidei: Tetrarogidae). Six species of this genus have been described: two from the Pacific Ocean, N. japonicus Matsubara, 1943 and N. trimaculatus Chan, 1966; four from the Indian Ocean, N. affinis (Lloyd, 1909) from the Gulf of Martaban, Myanmar, N. aeglefinus (Weber, 1913) from the Halmahera Sea, Timor Sea, probably a junior synonym of N. affinis, N. profundus (Smith, 1958) off Mozambique, and N. mesedai Klausewitz, 1985 from the Mismaris-Trough, Red Sea. | One species, fished in 1999 in the Bay of Biscay, determinated during 2001 according to two photographs, Aristostomias tittmanni, is recorded for the first time in the European Atlantic. Six other species, five fished with a pelagic trawl, Bathylagichthys greyae, Melanostomias bartonbeani, Macroparalepis affinis, Lobianchia gemellarii and Melanonus zugmayeri, one fished with a bottom trawl Ophidion barbatum, were recorded for the first time in tbe Bay of Biscay. The pelagic ichtyological fauna about -500 m, -1000m and -1500 m depth has changed between 1966 to 1968 and 2001 with a decrease of temperate cold affinities species, mostly Benthosema glaciale, and an increase of temperate warm affinities species, mostly Ceratoscopelus maderensis. | In 2008, were recorded for the first time Derichthys serpentinus in the Bay of Biscay, Kyphosus sectator in the Pays basque, Liparis montagui in the Charente-Maritime, Boops boops in Normandy. Some juveniles of Dentex dentex were observed in the bassin d'Arcachon in 2007 and 2008. We indicated also the catches of Tetragonurus cuvieri, Callionymus reticulatus, Seriola rivoliana and Brama brama. |
