A fosszilis tüzelőanyagok korlátaiból adódóan új... |

The state of Florida has large industries producing fruits and vegetables, sugar, livestock, dairy and meat products, seafood, ornamental plants, forest products, phosphate rock, and an array of associated industries that provide supporting inputs and services, and conduct processing and manufacturing. There are distinct differences in the regional distribution of Florida's agricultural and natural resource industries. Economic characteristics and impacts were evaluated for the state of Florida and for eight separate regions of Florida. Each region is comprised of a core metropolitan area and a number of surrounding counties, as defined by the US Commerce Department, Bureau of Economic Analysis, based on employee commuting patterns and other factors. The... |

This study uses a unique firm-level dataset to examine how falling trade costs from 1993-2001 affected entry, exit, productivity, and exporting in the Korean manufacturing sector. We verify many of the predictions of recent heterogeneous-firm models of international trade. For example, falling trade costs reduced entry by new Korean firms, increased their probability of exit, and reduced the market share of surviving firms. We also find that small firms had a particularly high level of dynamism over the sample period. Small firms were more likely to enter and exit, and marginally more likely to gain market share, enter export markets for the first time, and improve their productivity. |

----------------------------------------------This article presents the inducement of direct and indirect employment and income multiplier, of... |

A 2013 utáni időszakra szóló KAP-reform keretében egyes tagállamok máris felvetették a közvetlen termelői támogatások jelentős csökkentését. Acikk 2006. |

The recent expansion of the sugar and ethanol industries has raised some concerns regarding a number of issues. One major concern is with the quality of employment, the level of remuneration, the presence of child labor, the low qualification of the workers, informality and the high presence of temporary workers, among others. The objective of this study is to analyze the main employment characteristics in this sector to establish whether, in fact, its expansion will cause a deterioration of employment quality in the country. The work is based on information obtained from government databases (RAIS and PNAD). In the case of agricultural activities, the sugar cane labor market is compared to that of other cultures: soybean, maize, rice, meat, etc. And in... |

We adopt a general equilibrium approach in order to measure the effects of recent immigration on the Western German labor market, looking at both wage and employment effects. Using the Regional File of the IAB Employment Subsample for the period 1987-2001, we find that the substantial immigration of the 1990’s had no adverse effects on native wages and employment levels. It had instead adverse employment and wage effects on previous waves of immigrants. This stems from the fact that, after controlling for education and experience levels, native and migrant workers appear to be imperfect substitutes whereas new and old immigrants exhibit perfect substitutability. Our analysis suggests that if the German labor market were as ‘flexible’ as the UK labor... |

This paper summarizes the general condition of the North Dakota economy and the outlook for the next few years, addressing recent and projected changes in employment, personal income, and population. Forces affecting the growth and decline of various economic sectors are discussed, and specific examples of new or expanding firms in various economic sectors are presented. Differences in economic performance among regions of the state and between urban and rural areas are examined, and major factors affecting the state's economy over the next two to five years are explored. |

In the past 20 years the average scale of hog operations has expanded more than fourfold, and some of the new large-scale hog feeding operations have been opposed by residents in some communities. While the environmental effects of such production have been relatively well studied, less examined are its potential positive effects on local labor markets and economies. Existing estimates based on production-function and input-output analysis imply that each additional 1000 hogs in inventory in a county generates between 3 and 7 local jobs. In this paper we adopt an econometric approach instead, to estimate the effects of changes in hog production on changes in both farm and non-farm outcomes. We find that total county employment increases by less than... |
