Wastewater irrigation of agricultural land for treatment and disposal can be an effective management system that should be, where feasible, a consideration for wastewater treatment. Irrigating agricultural land with food processing, municipal, and some industrial effluents has been successful for many years in the USA, the Netherlands, and elsewhere where the systems were conservatively designed and the water and nutrient applications were not excessive (Smith, and others, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1980, 1983; and DeHaan, et al. 1973,).
