ABSTRACT: For Brazilian conditions there are still no studies on the use of the diagnosis and recommendation of the integrated system (DRIS) for nutritional diagnosis of the apple tree. The nutritional diagnosis of the apple tree is made using the criterion of sufficiency range. The aim of this report is to establish DRIS norms to interpret the results of apple tree leaf analysis in South Brazil. The study covered the apple producing areas of the states of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina, in 70 orchards selected for their high productivity and employment of excellent management techniques. The concentrations of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, boron, copper, iron, manganese, and zinc were determined in leaf samples. DRIS indices... |

Pears have been grown in the south region of Brazil, where the climatic conditions are favourable. The aim of this work was to determine the harvest maturity index as well as maximum storage period of ?Packham?s Triumph? and ?Rocha? pears to maintain quality attributes. The ?Packham?s Triumph? fruit were harvested from a commercial orchard at 7 days intervals and flesh firmness was used as a maturity index (MI1=76, MI2=67 and MI3=58 N). ?Rocha? pears were harvested twice and they were considered as MI1 and MI3 because of the firmness values. The fruit were stored at 1±1?C and 90-95% RH for 15, 30, 45 and 60 days and evaluated at the end of each storage period and after five days at room temperature (24±1?C), simulating a shelf-life period. Flesh firmness,... |

Flesh fruit ripening is a complex developmental process that involves the formation of taste, aroma, establishment of skin color and fruit softening by cell wall hydrolysis. Physiological, biochemical and molecular evidences indicate that ethylene is the principal hormone controlling this developmental process. It exerts its action on several targets including its own biosynthesis, its perception by the target-cells via ethylene receptors (ETRs), a signal transduction network consisting of positive and negative regulators, and finally on the regulation of target-gene expression by transcription factors, such as ethylene response factors (ERFs) (STEPANOVA & ALONSO, 2009). In higher plant genomes, ERF is present as a superfamily of transcription factor... |
