Abstract Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) processing industry requires varieties with increased production and quality, and also with resistance to pest, in order for producers to cultivate these. The aim of this study was to carry out an evaluation of 112 tomato cultivars for production and quality characteristics from the following providers: Orsetti Seed, Heiz Seed, Ohio University, United Genetic and Harrys Moran. The experiment was conducted at the Experimental Research Station Portoviejo of INIAP. Statistical analyses used were principal components analysis for a group of112 cultivars based on production parameter: yield (t.ha-1), average fruit weight (g), number of fruits per plant, defective fruits per plant; in addition to quality parameters as:... |

Abstract There was increased fruit consumption with potential health benefits in the last years, being blackberry one of these fruits. The objective of this work was to evaluate the performance of Blackberry cultivars and the influence of main stem management on BRS-Tupy cultivar. The first experiment assessed the cultivars: BRS-Tupy, Cherokee, Xavante, and Guarani; in the second experiment the evaluated prunings were: drastic winter pruning, 2, 3, and 4 main primocanes. The variables analyzed were: green and dry leaf mass, leaf area, number and average fruit mass, production per plant, average size and percentage of fruit moisture, and soluble solids. In relation to average weight, fruit size and yield, BRS-Tupy cultivar was superior in both cycles... |

Abstract The sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L.) is a vegetable of great economic importance since it can be used for in natura consumption, for processing in agribusiness and/or biofuel production. The objective of this work was to evaluate the yield of three sweet potato cultivars: BRS Amelia, BRS Cuia and BRS Rubissol in the Northwest Region of Rio Grande do Sul. The experiment was conducted in the field for two consecutive years (harvests 2014/2015 and 2015/2016). The experimental design was in randomized blocks, evaluating 3 sweet potato cultivars for 2 agricultural years, with 4 replications. As results, it was observed that potato weights in the first year of study ranged from 272.0 g to 320.2 g. In the second year of evaluation, it ranged from 133.9... |

The present work aims to update a series of information about the regional fishing production, by presenting and characterizing the contribution of the different sub-systems of the Amazon basin to the catch landed at the main fishing market of Manaus, Brazil, from 1994 to 1996. Collectors specifically hired for this function registered key information on the fisheries. Thirty nine types or groups of fish were found in the fishing production landed. Jaraqui (Semaprochilodus spp.), curimatã (Prochilodus nigricans), pacu (Myleinae), matrinchã (Brycon cephalus), sardine (Triportheus spp.), aracu (Anostomidae) and tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) were the most important items during three consecutive years. In 1994 these items summed up 91.6% of the total... |
