Climatic water indices for viticulture PAB
Conceição,Marco Antônio Fonseca; Tonietto,Jorge; Souza,Reginaldo Teodoro de.
Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the performance of vineyard water indices in different grape-growing regions. The climate data used come from the historical series of weather stations located in 18 countries. The evaluated indices were the following: dryness, Zuluaga, humidity, aridity, moisture, and the grapevine water index. The grapevine water index and the indices of drought, moisture, and aridity exhibit similar performances, which makes them suitable to be used equivalently in climatological studies of grapevine regions.

Estimates of reference evapotranspiration in the municipality of Ariquemes (RO) using neural networks GMDH-type AGRIAMBI
Carvalho,Roberto L. da S.; Delgado,Angel R. S..
ABSTRACT Reference evapotranspiration is a climatological variable of great importance for water use dimensioning in irrigation methods. In order to contribute to the climatic understanding of Ariquemes, Rodônia state, Brazil, the study aims to model the behavior of the time series of reference evapotranspiration using a GMDH-type (Group Method of Data Handling) artificial neural network (ANN) and to compare it with the SARIMA (Seasonal Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average) methodology. Data from the National Institute of Meteorology - INMET, obtained at the Automatic Weather Station of Ariquemes, from January 2011 to January 2014, were used. Data analysis was performed using software R version 3.3.1 through the GMDH-type ANN package. Modeling by...

GLOBAL SOLAR RADIATION INTERCEPTION BY GRAPEVINES TRAINED TO A VERTICAL TRELLIS SYSTEM Rev. Bras. Frutic.
CAMPOS,CLAUDIA GUIMARÃES CAMARGO; MALINOVSKI,LUCIANE ISABEL; VIEIRA,HAMILTON JUSTINO; SILVA,APARECIDO LIMA DA.
ABSTRACT In this paper we assess the utilization of radiant energy in the growing of grapevines (Cabernet Sauvignon) trained to a vertical trellis system, and estimate the global solar radiation interception taking into account the physical characteristics of the training system at different phenological stages. The experiment was based on daily measurements of global solar radiation made by an automatic weather station placed at the vineyard of a winery located in the municipality of São Joaquim, in the southern Brazilian State of Santa Catarina (Villa Francioni winery, 28º 15’ 14” S, 49º 57’ 02” W, 1294m a.s.l.). Growth and phenological development of the shoots were evaluated. The global solar radiation is intercepted by the canopy (trained to a...

Sugarcane maturity estimation through edaphic-climatic parameters Scientia Agricola
Scarpari,Maximiliano Salles; Beauclair,Edgar Gomes Ferreira de.
Sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.) grows under different weather conditions directly affecting crop maturation. Raw material quality predicting models are important tools in sugarcane crop management; the goal of these models is to provide productivity estimates during harvesting, increasing the efficiency of strategical and administrative decisions. The objective of this work was developing a model to predict Total Recoverable Sugars (TRS) during harvesting, using data related to production factors such as soil water storage and negative degree-days. The database of a sugar mill for the crop seasons 1999/2000, 2000/2001 and 2001/2002 was analyzed, and statistical models were tested to estimate raw material. The maturity model for a one-year old...

Physiological model to estimate the maturity of sugarcane Scientia Agricola
Scarpari,Maximiliano Salles; Beauclair,Edgar Gomes Ferreira de.
Sugarcane (Saccharum spp.) grows in different weather and management conditions which directly affect crop maturation. These conditions lead to the necessity of quantifying crop response to different stimuli for planning purposes. Forecast models for the quality of raw material are important tools in sugarcane farming, especially the forecast curve of sucrose accumulation in shoots. The goal of these models is to supply yield estimates during the crop cycle, aiming to characterize alternatives and to increase the efficacy for management and strategic decisions. The objective of this project was to develop empiric models capable of obtaining estimates of total recoverable sugar (TRS), for the varieties RB72454, SP81-3250 and SP80-1842 during the crop cycle,...

Meteorological factors and Asian soybean rust epidemics: a systems approach and implications for risk assessment Scientia Agricola
Del Ponte,Emerson Medeiros; Esker,Paul David.
Favorable meteorological and environmental conditions are critical components that affect Asian soybean rust (ASR), caused by Phakopsora pachyrhizi, the most damaging fungal disease of soybean. In this review, we used available knowledge on the effect of meteorological factors affecting the disease to construct a systems-based approach to understand the risk of ASR epidemics. The systems approach is based on a hierarchical framework where relevant environmental factors that affect the key stages of the ASR disease cycle are identified and this included both aerobiological and epidemiological components. The formal framework we used examined the following epidemic characteristics: spore release, spore dispersal, spore deposition, infection efficiency,...

General description of some meteo-marine variables of surface waters adjacent to the Palmer Archipelago, Antarctic Peninsula, during 1979-2018 based on Era5 data Boletín de Investigaciones
Hernández Duarte,Margorie Alexandra; Villegas Bolaños,Nancy Liliana; Concha Perdomo,Ana Elena.
ABSTRACT Aspatial and temporal description of meteo-marine parameters for 1979-2018 period of the marine region surrounding the Palmer Archipelago, located West of the Antarctic Peninsula (WAP), is presented. The used information was extracted from the ERA5 reanalysis. Air Temperature (Ta), Total Precipitation (TP) and Sea Surface Temperature (SST) showed a general increase over the last 40 years in the study region. The highest increase of Ta, TP and SST values were recorded north of Gerlache Strait, followed by Bismarck Strait. It was evidenced that Sea Ice Cover (SIC) has decreased mostly north of Palmer Archipelago. The existence of a local differentiation of meteo-marine conditions around the Palmer Archipelago was identified. The climatology of five...
