| An analysis of sedimentological, sediment trap and hydrological data was performed to investigate the transport and fate of particulate matter in the Gulf of Lions. The sedimentological properties outline the major sedimentary units of the shelf (Rhone prodelta, mid-shelf mud belt, outer shelf) and slope. The geometry of these sedimentary units and the southwestwards increase of particulate fluxes on the slope highlight the influence of the general cyclonic circulation on the dispersion of land-derived particulate matter. Considering the known input and output terms, budgets of particulate matter and organic carbon in the Gulf of Lions are proposed. | L’objectif de cette étude est de caractériser le niveau d’exposition des lagunes aux contaminants chimiques, complétant ainsi notre connaissance de la qualité des masses d’eau côtières méditerranéennes françaises. 23 masses d’eau de transition (soit 26 lagunes) réparties sur 7 départements côtiers en LR et PACA ont été échantillonnées au moyen d’échantillonneurs intégratifs (SBSE, POCIS et DGT) entre mai et août 2010. 141 contaminants issus de différentes familles chimiques (pesticides, médicaments, alkylphenols, HAP, PCB et métaux traces) ont été recherchés et leurs teneurs comparées aux Normes de Qualité Environnementales, lorsque celles-ci existent. | An experimental eutrophication carried out with several technics on mediterranean sea water (Embiez) in autumn shows : - significant variations in the electro-chemical composition of phytoplanktonic excretion; complex organic substances are excreted during two different periods, especially after the Skeletonema costatum bloom; - close relations between heterotrophy (l4C glucose test) and excretion of organic matter by photosynthetic organisms, glucids are always predominant; - the original heterotrophy from the 14c pyruvate test; which is obviously more selective than the 14c glucose test; - the existence of different periods of active ultraplankton. |

| This paper presents the evolution of aquaculture in North Africa during the 20 last years, and the assets and bottlenecks for each country. This work uses the results of the European project Aquamed (2011-2013). The analysis of the evolutions of this sector, including research and development allows to establish a diagnosis on the strengths and the weaknesses in the four countries (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Egypt). The retrospective analysis helps in identifying solutions for a more sustainable development. It also contributes to select priorities for action in a long-term vision (2035).
