BARON,DANIEL; AMARO,AMANDA CRISTINA ESTEVES; MACEDO,ANA CLAUDIA; BOARO,CARMEN SÍLVIA FERNANDES; FERREIRA,GISELA.
ABSTRACT This study aimed to evaluate if ionic strength variation causes differential accumulation of heavy metals in plants of Annona emarginata (Schltdl.) H. Rainer var. ‘terra-fria’, modifying gas exchange and dry matter production. The seedlings were cultivated under different ionic strengths of the ‘Hoagland and Arnon’s’ nutrient solution (75% I, 50% I and 25% I). At 180 days after the application of the treatments, the effects of the essential heavy metals on the physiological parameters and foliar ionic concentration were assessed. The leaf gas exchanges and vegetative growth were affected by the variation in the essential heavy metals, with positive effects on the plants that were treated with 75%I. The seedlings that were grown under 75% I...

Assessment on nutrient levels in the aerial biomass of irrigated guava in São Francisco Valley, Brazil Rev. Bras. Frutic.
Maia,Joselanne Luiza Trajano; Bassoi,Luis Henrique; Silva,Davi José; Lima,Maria Auxiliadora Coelho de; Assis,Joston Simão de; Morais,Patricia Lígia Dantas de.
In perennial crops, fertilizers are applied to restore the amount of nutrient removed from the plant by harvesting. Nevertheless, the immobilized nutrient inside the whole plant should be considered. Based on it, the nutrient concentrations in the guava leaf and fruit and the nutrient contents removed by fruits and post-harvest pruning were evaluated in an irrigated orchard, in Petrolina, State of Pernambuco, Brazil. The greatest contents removed by fruits were N and K among the macronutrients, while Fe, Zn and Mn presented higher levels among the micronutrients. More than 60% of the total content of N, P, K, Mg, Fe, and B removed by pruning were immobilized in the leaf and non-marketable fruit.
