The article deals with distribution of populations of mass microplankton species and groups of organisms possessing similar properties of sound scattering: animals with a gelatinous body, animals with chitin integuments, fishes with gas bladders and without them. The materials was collected by means of the Issaks-Kidd sweep in the Black, Aegean, Ionic, Tyrrhenian, Sardinian and Balearic seas in the day light and at night at depths of 500 m in of autumns of 1974 and 1976. Composition and quantitative ratio of species in different layers varied depending on the vertical migration. The number of species of fish, higher Crustacea and their amount in surface horizons increased at night. Species inhabiting the surface layer, interzonal species, and those at a... |

The paper deals with the oxygen uptake rate by a number of mass species of the marine Crustaceae, representatives of the isopod and decapod orders from different zones of the area of distribution at the species existence temperatures. the metabolism rates are compared within the area of distribution at the same temperature. It is shown that Crustacea when adapting to low temperature are not capable of increasing the energy metabolism level to compensate the effect of the unfavourable environment. |

The ontogenetic changes are studied for some main morphological and physiological parameters in the Fucus vesiculosus thallus. Two populations growing under conditions of different water exchange (in the bay protected from surf and on the open coast subjected to the sea surf) were analysed. The data obtained made it possible to find out the peculiarities in formation of the thallus and its carbon exchange with the environment. It is shown that the intensity of water exchange makes an important contribution to formation and functioning of the thallus. The paper discusses interrelation of different morphological and physiological characters in the process of the thallus growth. |

The bioluminescent field spectrum is determined by means of a spectrobathyphotometer with three detectors. The spectrum maximum in the Black sea and in the tropical Atlantic is at 480 nm, the efficient band width at the level of 0.5 of the maximum being from 460 to 515 nm, and in the Mediterranean sea it is 10-15 nm shifted towards long-wave region. Spectrum composition of bioluminescent field is determined by species specificity of light emission of the studied bioluminescents and by their amount. |

Feeding (ration and assimilation) of Strongylocentrotus droebachiensis was studied at different age and in a seasonal aspect. Differences are detected in nutrition intensity of impuberal and adult animals depending on season and food type. The differences make it impossible to approximate the relation of the ration volume to the body mass by a power equation but permits applying the polynomial equation. The nutrition intensity depends on the water exchange rate and food type and to a less extent to a body mass. Assimilation of algae varies within the limits of 58-75% and is the same in the animals of different mass. The amount of the available food does not affect its assimilation. |

Small Flagellata division rate is studied in experiments in-situ carried each month for two years. The portion of small Flagellata in the total amount and biomass of phytoplankton is determined. It is found that in some periods it may reach from 40 to 70-80% of the amount and above 20% of the biomass. Proceeding from the data on the division rate and on biomass, the diurnal production values are calculated which vary from 4 to 67 mgC/m^3 for a year and may account for 3 to 93% of total diurnal production of phytoplankton. |

In 1971-1975 the Georgian branch of the All-Union Institute of Fishery and Oceanography carried out works on studying Acipenseridae resources, development of fish-breeding measures for Acipenseridae, plaice-turbot and America eel. Simultaneously a great complex of researches was performed to study toxicological effect of oil products on fish and other hydrobionts. |

It is shown that phytoplankton of the equatorial Atlantic may produce organic substance under conditions of a ceased biogenic elements intake from without at the expense of their reserves in cells. Biogenic elements stock in phytoplankton in the upwelling regions is somewhat higher than in oligotrophic regions. On the basis of comparison of the field data and results of experiments with cultures, the phosphorus content in phytoplankton is calculated (percentage of the dry mass). Phosphorus content in phytoplankton of oligotrophic regions amounts to 0.12% of dry mass (7% of maximum content), and in the upwelling region it is 0.19% of dry mass (10% of maximum content). |

The article deals with the calculation method for copepods energy expenditures for moving in water. Specific power developed by the copepod when overcoming the medium resistance and transferring residual mass is found to depend on the motion velocity and physical parameters of water. Dynamics of these characteristics interrelation within the whole size group of Calanidae is revealed. Mechanical efficiencies during smooth sliding and spasmodic motion of copepods are calculated. The value of active metabolism is calculated from the literature data on velocity and duration of C. helgolandicus motion in the experiment. |

On the basis of data on oxygen uptake by mussels which were obtained in different seasons of 1975, the equations are calculated for dependence of metabolism on total, wet and dry mass of mollusks body for March, April, June, July and December at 20 deg.C and the animal habitat temperature in sea. The metabolism rate in mussels varies with seasons, reaching maximum values in the spring and late-autumn months. In summer the level of metabolism decreases, despite the high temperature of water in sea. The revealed seasonal character of mussel respiration is determined by the physiological state of the organism and to a less extent by the sea thermal regime. |

Five species of mircophalidae metacercariae parasitizing in Gammarus insensibilis (Amphipoda) and in Carcinus mediterraneus and Macropipus holsatus (Decapoda) are described: Microphalus papillorobustus, Levinseniella bucephalae, Levinseniella sp., Maritrema subdolum, Gynaecotyla longiintestinata. Drawings of the metacercariae are presented. Some regularities are revealed in the seasonal and age infection of G. insensibilis with mircophalidae metacercariae. |
