| North European landscapes are highly dominated by agriculture, where small biotopes, e.g. meadows, uncultivated grassland, hedge rows, field boundaries, surroundings of water ponds, only comprise a low percentage. | Onbereden teeltbedden hebben bewezen een hogere opbrengst te kunnen geven in een groot aantal gewassen. Vooral structuurgevoelige gewassen zoals bladgewassen (spinazie) kunnen hiervan profiteren. Doordat er in principe niet meer over de teeltbedden gereden wordt, kan de bodemstructuur in stand blijven of zich gemakkelijk herstellen. Jammer genoeg is de oogstmechanisatie nog niet passend voor de onbereden teeltbedden. Tot aan de oogst wordt er niet over de bedden gereden en zelfs dit heeft al een effect op de bodemstructuur. Door te kiezen voor een laag gewicht van de oogstmachines ontzien we de bodemstructuur. |

| Farmers in the mid-hills of Nepal follow diverse farming systems. The peri-urban area of this region, where population density is higher, faces several problems in farming. While hills suffer from erosion because they are erodible, the peri-urban areas face the problem of decline in factor productivity, particularly in intensively cultivated farmlands. The present study is concerned with simulating farm income on a regional scale based on soil management practices. | The number of organic farms in Switzerland fell between 2005 and 2009, and has remained stable since then. Several studies show that financial arguments should mean that more farms convert to organic production, which means that other reasons inhibit farmers from conversion. In this study, 24 organic and non-organic Swiss farmers were interviewed with the aim of identifying the barriers to conversion and learning how these have been overcome. | The story started when a state-owned enterprise wanted to implement its corporate social responsibility (CSR) program by aiding rice farmers in the district of Pomalaa, regency of Kolaka, province of Southeast Sulawesi.
