An Update on the Occurrence and Damage Caused to Cashew by Gypona cerea DeLong & Freytag (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae) in Northeastern Brazil 42
SOUZA,SUYANNE A. DE; DIAS-PINI,NIVIA S.; SERRANO,LUIZ AUGUSTO L.; VIDAL NETO,FRANCISCO C.; MACIEL,GABRIELA PRISCILA S.; SOUSA,VIVIANE R. DE; AZEVEDO FILHO,WILSON S. DE.
Abstract: We have identified specimens of the leafhopper Gypona cerea DeLong & Freytag (Cicadellidae: Iassinae: Gyponini) collected from a crop of dwarf cashew (Anacardium occidentale Linnaeus 1753) located in Canto do Buriti, Piauí, Northeastern Brazil. The damage caused to the crop included inflorescences covered with sticky exudates, presence of sooty mold, and yellowing and drying of new shoots and inflorescences. Such documentation serves as a warning about possible outbreaks of infestation in the region and the likelihood of its expansion to other cashew producing areas.

COURI,MÁRCIA S.; JORDAENS,KURT; GEERAERT,LORE; MATHEUS,RAFAEL; VIEIRA-ARAÚJO,ANGELINA P..
Abstract: We here report for the first time on the presence of three species of the conopid genus Stylogaster Macquart (Diptera, Conopidae) in Ethiopia, viz. S. nitens Brunetti, S. westwoodi Smith and Stylogaster sp.. We further screened 908 muscid flies (Diptera, Muscidae) for the presence of impaled eggs of Stylogaster and recorded eggs on 89 individuals (9.8%). Eggs were impaled on eight species, viz. Limnophora translucida Stein, Musca lusoria Wiedemann, Musca splendens Pont, Neomyia chrysopyga (Emden), Pseudohelina nigritarsis (Jaennicke), Stomoxys omega Newstead, Stomoxys taeniatus Bigot and Stomoxys varipes (Bezzi). The maximum number of eggs found on a single muscid was six. We illustrated the dissected eggs. L. translucida, M. lusoria, M....

New records of Forcipomyia (Pterobosca) incubans (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae) parasitizing wings of Odonata in Brazil 49
Guillermo-Ferreira,Rhainer; Vilela,Diogo Silva.
Forcipomyia (Pterobosca) incubans Macfie (1937) (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae) is recorded here for the first time for Brazil. Females were collected in the Brazilian Neotropical Savanna parasitizing the wings of Erythrodiplax juliana Ris (1911), Erythrodiplax aff. anomala Brauer (1865) and Erythemis credula Hagen (1861), all Libellulidae dragonflies. A map of potential distribution of this species in the New World is also provided. The results suggest that its distribution may range from southern South America to Mexico, with higher densities in the Brazilian and Colombian Tropical Rain Forests.

Rizzo,Alexandra Elaine; Amaral,Antonia Cecília Zacagnini.
In the present study, four species of Nephtyidae, Aglaophamus juvenalis (Kinberg 1866), Nephtys acrochaeta Hartman 1950, Nephtys californiensis Hartman 1938 and Nephtys squamosa Ehlers 1887, were found from the intertidal zone to the shallow sublittoral (<50 m) off São Paulo, Brazil, during the program BIOTA/FAPESP Marine Benthos. Descriptions and notes on each of them are provided. Nephtys californiensis is a new record for the Brazilian coast. Keys to genera and species of Nephtyidae recorded from Brazil are given.

Parapentaneura bentogomensis Stur, Fittkau et Serrano (Diptera, Chironomidae, Tanypodinae) taken in Southeastern, Brazil: additional characters and modified generic diagnosis 49
Oliveira,Caroline Silva Neubern de; Fonseca-Gessner,Alaíde Aparecida; Navarro-Silva,Mário Antônio.
The genus Parapentaneura was established in 2006 and is composed of a single species, Parapentaneura bentogomensis, originally from Mato Grosso State. This species was collected in São Paulo State and is thus redescribed. The specimens from both localities were compared, adding new characters to the description of the species and emending the genus diagnosis. The new record increases considerably the geographical distribution of Parapentaneura.
