RESUMO: A seleção de porta-enxertos para nanismo tem sido um aspecto importante no programa de melhoramento de manga na região do Brasil Central. As cultivares de manga para exportação Tommy Atkins e Haden, embora produtivas, com frutas de coloração excelente e polpa sem fibras são vigorosas e de porte elevado, o que dificulta os tratos culturais e colheita. O objetivo deste trabalho foi estudar o efeito de copas e porta-enxertos no crescimento da planta, no rendimento e na qualidade dos frutos da manga. O experimento foi implantado em novembro de 1990 numa área de 4,0 ha. O delineamento experimental foi o de blocos ao acaso, em parcelas subdivididas, com três repetições, sendo avaliados oito porta-enxertos nas parcelas e quatro nas copas nas subparcelas.... |

The French project "Morest", coordinated by IFREMER, aims to understand the causes of the summer mortalities in Crassostrea gigas. In 2001, three sets of families were bred following a nested half-sib mating design. 17 half-sib families (HSF) were obtained in this first generation (G1) and reared in 3 sites. Significant differences in survival were observed among HSF, and some HSF showed high levels of mortality in all sites, clearly indicating a genetic basis for survival. In 2002, a second generation (G2), including divergent selection and inbred lines, was constituted. Monitoring of survival and growth of G2s were the same as in 2001. Common carp was the first domesticated fish species and is now a major species in worldwide aquaculture. Although research has generated a considerable body of knowledge about its genetics, genetic improvement programmes are virtually non-existent in this species and only crossbreeding is used in practice. The main reasons are the inefficiency of methods usually effective in other aquaculture species (monosexing, triploidy), and the bad image of selective breeding which is difficult to implement in ponds, and for which reliable genetic parameters were missing until recently. La situation épidémiologique due à Bonamia ostreae n'a pas évoluée au cours de 1985. Les élevages réalisés dans le cadre du plan de relance ont confirmé la très faible propagation du parasite,en eau profonde, jusqu'à l'âge de deux ans. Des résultats encourageants ont également été obtenus avec des huîtres plus âgées. Les essais d'acclimatation effectués avec Ostrea angasi ont permis de constater la réceptivité de cette huître aux deux Protozooses mais également sa sensibilité à une Haplosporidie. L'étude de cette dernière et d'une Haplosporidie sp. trouvée chez des huîtres plates de Méditerranée a été réalisée en microscopie électronique. The production of sea bass, a major species in Mediterranean fish farming, still relies in many cases on the production of fingerlings issued from wild breeders. Still, genetic improvement is a major key to sustainable development for all optimized forms of animal production. Three types of genetic improvement can be acheived in fish: i) the production of monosex populations. For seabass, monosex female populations would be the objective as females grow 20-30% faster than males. The experimental unit used previously in our laboratory for the study of the effect of the photoperiod on the growth of flatfish was based on the use of tanks with separate recirculation systems. We modified it, connecting the different tanks to a single, more powerful recirculation system.
