| 1 - The authors study and compare the biovolumes of 69 samples taken with the Isaacs-Kidd midwater trawl during the Polymède expedition on the N. O. "Jean Charcot" (May and June, 1970) in the western Mediterranean and in the vicinity of Cap Finisterre. 2 - The authors, having assembled the measurements of physical oceanographers, have prepared a diagram of the deep-current issuing from the Mediterranean into the Atlantic North- East. It is possible to superimpose on this diagram the route used by the young albacore (Thunnus alalunga) during their annual summer migration. | Actual data on the occurence of tunas in the south tyrrhenian sea are given. Bluefin tuna and related species come for spawning in this area. The main area of reproduction is located between the eastern Sicile, Calabre and Eoliennes Islands. During the spawning season, tunas gather in large schools swimming in the superficial layers. Their movements are restricted by environmental conditions, since they are at this time highly sensitive to thermie gradients (thermocline and frontal area). |

Before the revolution of 1917, this issue has been raised for the last time during the Russo-Japanese war. | Pointe de la Coubre spit, located to the N of the Gironde estuary, is rapidly evoluting under particularly efficient wave and wind actions. Morphological evolution between 1973 an 1977 is described : the ultimate state of evolution is going to be reached : longshore bars and channels system is extending, diminishing upper beach slopes. The distal part of the spit is notably accreting, a beach barrier is forming, both tending to obturate Bonne Anse channel. In Bonne Anse lagoon, mud deposition processes, more efficient than transport and suspension ones, are enhanced by sand accumulation on spit neighbouring. Dunes seem to be stable, although vegetation tends to trap sands especially on distal part. |

| The main structural features of the continental margin off West Spitzberg are outlined. Seaward the Atka ridge has acted like a dam for the eastward-flowing sediments and thus helped to build up a large sedimentary basin, narrowing towards the North. Magnetic and seismic data show that the Atka Valley is probably an active accretion rift valley. These results are in good agreement with the last hypothesis on the opening of the Norwegian Sea. | King scallop, Patinopecten yessoensis (Jay), is one of the cold water species whose exploitation is the oldest in Japanese waters. In the bay of Mutsu, its fishing intensified in the middle of the Tokugawa era (1615-1868) and scallops held an important place in the trade with China. At the beginning of the Meiji era, king scallop was mostly fished in Hokkaido, in the bay of Funka and on the south-west coast of this island. Around year 25 of the Meiji era (1893), it spread to the coasts of the Okhotsk Sea. This exploitation provided a production which varied considerably from one year to the other, but was a central element of the activity and economy of fishing villages. |

| Today, French oyster culture is self-sufficient. It also fulfills the French customers' needs and exports a large amount of its production. All Dutch farms are forbidden to the French oysters. With the exception of small amounts bought recently by Dutch farmers following a severe disease, no trade has taken place from France to the Netherlands for almost fifty years (1). Several authors explain this prohibition by a fear of bringing to the Dutch farms the drill periwinkle, almost unknown over there.
