The larvae of the genus Einfeldia Kieffer, 1924: nomenclature and key to the species (Diptera: Chironomidae). A review is given of the identities of groups and taxa of Einfeldia in the larval stage as given in the literature. Three species remain on the Dutch list: E. carbonaria (Meigen), E. dissidens (Walker) and E. pagana (Meigen). A key is presented to identify these species. Corrections are given to update a previously given key (Moller Pillot, 1984).

The expansion of Conocephalus discolor in the southern part of the province of Limburg (Orthoptera: Tettigoniidae) The range of Conocephalus discolor (Thunberg, 1815) in northwestern Europe and Britain has expanded substantially during the last decades. The rearing of the botfly Cephenemyia auribarbis (Diptera: Oestridae) After several failures we finally succeeded in rearing botflies Cephenemyia from third-instar larvae. From a red deer shot at 13 March 1998 about one hundred larvae of Cephenemyia auribarbis (Meigen, 1824) were collected. Ten individuals reached the pupal stage. After 22 days, one fullgrown male died in the pupa, and two males emerged and lived for 17 and 18 days respectively. This is one of the few recorded succesful attempts to rear botflies.

Systematiek De indeling van de Orthocladiinae levert zo mogelijk nog meer problemen op dan die van de andere subfamilies van de Chironomidae. Merodon batumicus, a syrphid fly new to the Dutch fauna (Diptera: Syrphidae) A female specimen of Merodon batumicus Paramonov, 1927 was collected in 1972 in the forested park around Huys te Warmont, to the north of Leiden (province of Zuid- Holland). The region is known for its bulb cultivating companies and fields. This is the first record for the Netherlands. Most likely the specimen was introduced with bulb material from Turkey. The species has been collected rarely within its range which comprises the Caucasus and Turkey.

New records of Cheilosia caerulescens in the Netherlands (Diptera: Syrphidae) Cheilosia caerulescens is a rare hoverfly in The Netherlands. Until 1998 only four records were known, the first in 1986. In 1998 the species was found on three new and one old locality. The record from Heemstede (province of Noord-Holland) is among the northernmost in the European distribution of this species. Three of the four records originate from gardens.

Constatou-se parasitismo em amostras de ovos de cigarrinhas-das-pastagens coletadas em pastagens de Brachiaria decumbens, pelo microhimenóptero Anagrus urichi Pickles, constituindo-se no primeiro registro dessa natureza para o Estado de Mato Grosso do Sul. O índice de parasitismo observado foi de 10,4%, sendo que, em média, emergiram 4,7 parasitóides por ovo. A exposição de 100 ovos da cigarrinha Notozulia entreriana (Berg), obtidos em laboratório, a oito desses parasitóides, resultou em 13% de parasitismo, indicando a possibilidade de multiplicação desse inimigo natural em laboratório.

O afídeo Sipha flava (Forbes) ocasiona injúrias em capim-elefante e sua biologia é pouco conhecida. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito da temperatura no desenvolvimento, sobrevivência e reprodução de S. flava alimentada com Pennisetum purpureum. Ninfas com até 12h de idade foram individualizadas sobre seções foliares de capim-elefante e mantidas em condições controladas (12, 16, 20, 24, 28 e 32ºC ± 1ºC, UR 70 ± 10% e fotofase de 12h). O total de 150 ninfas foi usado por tratamento, divididas em 30 repetições, em delineamento inteiramente casualizado. O objetivo deste trabalho foi o de verificar se há indução de indivíduos alados em colônias de Brevicoryne brassicae (L.), quando expostas a Diaeretiella rapae (McIntosh). A integração entre plantas resistentes e agentes de controle biológico pode ser uma alternativa viável para o manejo do pulgão-verde, Schizaphis graminum (Rondani), na cultura do sorgo. This is the first record on the invasion of the Neotropical brown stink bug, Euschistus heros (F.) in Paraná County (latitude 31º 51' 9.6" S, longitude 60º 32' 11.2" W), Entre Ríos province, Argentina. Five adults were intercepted in 2009/2010, one in crop residues and four on soybean fields. The expanding range in the distribution of E. heros in the Southern Hemisphere is believed to be due to the increased commercial trade among countries, increase in the area cultivated with soybean, and the adoption of no-tillage cropping systems.
