Variability of energy density among mesozooplankton community: new insights in functional diversity to forage fish ArchiMer
Dessier, Aurelie; Dupuy, Christine; Kerric, Anais; Mornet, Francoise; Authier, Matthieu; Bustamante, Paco; Spitz, Jerome.
To explore some aspects of mesozooplankton functional diversity, this study quantified energy density during the springtime in the Bay of Biscay both between different species and between different size-classes. Energy densities of copepod species (Centropages typicus, Anomalocera patersoni, Calanus helgolandicus, and Labidocera wollastoni), as well as anchovy eggs (Engraulis encrasicolus) ranged from 0.5 to 6.7 kJ/g wet weight (ww). Considering size-classes, energy densities varied from 0.74 to 1.26 kJ/g ww. Energy density of C. helgolandicus exhibited a spatial pattern with the highest values in the plume of the Gironde estuary. In contrast, no spatial pattern of energy density has been detected considering size-classes. Our results showed that the...

Economic analysis of sorghum consortia with forages or with dwarf pigeon pea succeeded by soybean or corn PAB
Pascoaloto,Isabô Melina; Andreotti,Marcelo; Cruz,Sanderley Simões da; Sabbag,Omar Jorge; Borghi,Emerson; Lima,Gilmar Cotrin de; Modesto,Viviane Cristina.
Abstract: The objective of this work was to determine the most economically viable integrated no-tillage crop-livestock system by intercropping sorghum with tropical forages or dwarf pigeon pea, succeeded by soybean or corn, over a two-year period. The experiment was carried out in a randomized complete block design with four replicates. The treatments consisted of forage sorghum intercropped with: 'Marandu' grass; 'Marandu' grass and dwarf pigeon pea; 'Mombaça' grass; 'Mombaça' grass and dwarf pigeon pea; and dwarf pigeon pea and single sorghum, harvested for silage in the first cut and regrowth, succeeded by soybean or corn. The following calculations were made: effective operational cost, total operational costs, gross revenues, operational income,...

Financial and economic performance of some Brazilian cellulose and paper companies PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira
Almeida, Alexandre Nascimento de; Bittencourt, Alexandre Muzy; Hoeflich, Vitor Afonso; Luchesa, Claudio José.
Brazil shows competitive and comparative advantages against others wood producers, mainly in thepulp and paper segment, because Brazil has technology in wood production with shorts lifecycles due to thegood climate conditions and the quality of the products exported for many countries around the world. However,in the economical and financial area this advantage is not verified. In reason to the importance of this segment in the Brazilian forest sector the present study had the objective to know the economical and financial situation of six Brazilian pulp and paper companies. The information was obtained with BOVESPA – Sao Paulo State Stock Exchanged by the annual financial balance showed by the companies in the last nine years. Some of the most important...
