This research objectives study local knowledge of rice landraces, role of farmer and other organizations, factors that have influence for rice landraces conservation of farmers community in northeastern Thailand, and classified as microsatellites of rice landraces analysis based. This results shown that farmers have local knowledge about conservation and management of rice landraces on-farm and conducted rice cultivar difference. Rice utilization have foods, herbal, exchange, animal feeding, sweets, ritual, local whisky, and income. Development of local rice variety at Krabi Rice Research Center is an experiment under local upland rice breeding program in the southern region for compensating rubber trees and oil palms. One hundred and twenty rice varieties that farmers grow in the southern region were selected to study since 2008 until now. The aims of this study are to record the characteristics, categorize, investigate, select pure rice seed, compare production and test on using nitrogen fertilizer. The result showed that this variety, Dokkha, is photoperiod sensitive. It has 332 kg per rai, straight clum 150 cm plant height and 145 - 150 days maturity, green leaves, 8 seeds per panicle, straw colored husk, 20.74 % amylose content and susceptible to rice blast disease. Root anatomical traits, which include cortical area, aerenchyma area, and xylem features, influence the absorption and translocation of water and nutrients, oxygen transport and the mechanical strength of the root system. While a number of studies have shown promising functional benefits of anatomical root traits in conferring resource acquisition efficiency, very little is known about the genetic mechanisms underlying natural phenotypic variation of these traits.
