Rates of nitrogen and growth retardant trinexapac-ethyl on wheat Ciência Rural
Espindula,Marcelo Curitiba; Rocha,Valterley Soares; Souza,Leandro Torres de; Souza,Moacil Alves de; Campanharo,Marcela; Grossi,José Antônio Saraiva.
The objective in this study was to evaluate the effects of nitrogen rates in association with rates of the growth retardant trinexapac-ethyl on wheat. The experiment was conducted in Viçosa, MG and arranged in a 5×4 factorial, randomized block design, with four repetitions. A combination of five nitrogen rates (30, 60, 90, 120 and 150kg ha-1) with four rates of trinexapac-ethyl (0, 62.5, 125 and 187.5g ha-1) were tested. Trinexapac-ethyl promotes reduction of soot dry mass and grain yield at the lowest N rates, but at the highest N rates there is increase in these characteristics. The combination between N and trinexapac-ethyl rates that promotes higher shoot dry mass is 150kg ha-1 and 187g ha-1 but that promotes higher grain yield is 100kg ha-1 and 120g...

Application times, sources and doses of nitrogen on wheat cultivars under no till in the Cerrado region Ciência Rural
Teixeira Filho,Marcelo Carvalho Minhoto; Buzetti,Salatiér; Andreotti,Marcelo; Arf,Orivaldo; Sá,Marco Eustáquio de.
Proper management of nitrogen fertilization and using cultivars with high productive potential are essential to obtain high wheat yield. Thus, the objective of the present study was to assess the effects of different N doses and sources, one with a nitrification inhibitor, applied at sowing or as side dressing, on the production components and yield of two wheat cultivars irrigated, under no till, cultivated in a region of low altitude Cerrado (Selvíria - MS). A randomized block design was used in a 5x3x2x2 factorial arrangement, that is, five nitrogen doses (0, 50, 100, 150 and 200kg ha-1), three nitrogen sources (ammonium sulfonitrate with nitrification inhibitor (Entec®), ammonium sulfate and urea) and two nitrogen application times (at sowing or side...

Response of dual-purpose wheat to nitrogen fertilization and seed inoculation with Azospirillum brasilense Ciência e Agrotecnologia
Quatrin,Mauricio Pase; Olivo,Clair Jorge; Simonetti,Gabriela Descovi; Bratz,Vinicius Felipe; Godoy,Guilherme Librelotto de; Casagrande,Lucas Giovane.
ABSTRACT The use of inoculants containing plant growth-promoting bacteria is an alternative to increase the efficiency of nitrogen fertilizers. Studies evaluating the effects of inoculation on forage yield, straw yield, and grain yield in dual-purpose wheat cultivars are scarce. This study aimed to evaluate the forage yield and grain yield in dual-purpose wheat inoculated with Azospirillum brasilense and fertilized with increasing nitrogen rates during two agricultural years (2016-2017) under cutting management. The trial was carried out in a completely randomized block design with four replicates, using a 2 x 4 factorial arrangement. The factors were the inoculation (control or A. brasilense) and nitrogen rates (0, 50, 100 and 150 kg ha-1 of N). Forage,...

Competitive ability of black common bean genotypes with weeds Ciência e Agrotecnologia
Vogt,Gilcimar Adriano; Balbinot Junior,Alvadi Antonio; Trezzi,Michelangelo Muzell; Backes,Rogério Luiz; Nicknich,Waldir.
The morpho-physiologic characteristics of common bean plants can affect their competitive ability with weeds. The objective of this work was to evaluate the competitive ability of black bean genotypes with weeds. An experiment was carried out in the 2010/11 cropping season in Papanduva, SC, southern Brazil, in order to verify the variability of some plant characteristics among genotypes of common bean. The randomized block design was used, with four replications. Seven cultivars underwent the treatments: BRS Campeiro, CHP 01-238, CHP 01-239, Diamante Negro, BRS Supremo, BRS Valente, IPR Uirapuru, FTS Soberano, IPR Graúna, IPR Tiziu e IAC Diplomata. At 6, 14, 18, 25 and 32 days after emergence (DAE) were evaluated plant height, ground cover by common bean...

Nutrition, yield and nutrient export in common bean under zinc fertilization in no-till system Ciência e Agrotecnologia
Kachinski,Wagner Deckij; Ávila,Fabrício William; Muller,Marcelo Marques Lopes; Reis,André Rodrigues dos; Rampim,Leandro; Vidigal,Julio Cezar Borecki.
ABSTRACT Zinc (Zn) is one of the most deficient plant micronutrients in agricultural crops. The objective of this study was to evaluate plant nutrition, grain yield and nutrient export rate in response to soil and foliar Zn fertilization in common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.). Two field experiments in no-till system were carried out using two common bean cultivars, BRS Esteio (black bean) and IPR Campos Gerais (Carioca bean). Treatments were composed of soil Zn application during sowing and foliar Zn spray at flowering stage. Soil Zn application had effect on leaf Zn concentration in IPR Campos Gerais and did not affect grain yield of both cultivars. Foliar Zn spray increased leaf Zn concentration by approximately two times in both cultivars, but...

Genetic progress of phenotypic recurrent selection in popcorn Ciência e Agrotecnologia
Ematné,Hugo Junqueira; Souza,João Cândido de; Biudes,Gustavo Barnabé; Nunes,José Airton Rodrigues; Guedes,Fernando Lisboa.
Popcorn is widely consumed in the south of Minas Gerais; however, up to now no specific breeding program for the region has been carried out. Recurrent selection (RS) is a viable alternative for breeding of this crop; nevertheless, it is necessary to frequently evaluate the progress achieved. Consequently, the purpose of this work was to assess the genetic progress obtained after two cycles of RS for the traits of popping expansion (PE) and grain yield (GY). Cycles one and two of the UFLA - E and UFLA - R populations, the original population (UFLA) and two controls were assessed. The experiment was conducted at the UFLA experimental farm in a randomized block design with eleven replications; ten agronomic traits, including PE and GY, were assessed. Gains...

Genetic progress in popcorn recurrent selection by a multivariate mixed-model approach Ciência e Agrotecnologia
Ematné,Hugo Junqueira; Nunes,José Airton Rodrigues; Souza,João Cândido de; Muñoz,Patrício Ricardo.
ABSTRACT Recurrent selection is a viable alternative for popcorn breeding. However, frequent verification of progress attained is required. The aim of this study was to estimate the genetic progress attained for popping expansion (PE) and grain yield (GY) after four cycles of recurrent selection and to compare this progress with the expected progress estimated at the end of each cycle while considering the genetic relationships between the progenies via univariate and multivariate mixed-model approaches. To estimate the genetic parameters and gains from indirect selection, cycles 1, 2, 3, and 4 of a UFLA population were used. To estimate the genetic gains achieved, the following cycles were used: UFLA (original) and cycles 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4, evaluated in...
