A revision of the Genus Scincella (Reptilia: Sauria: Scincidae) of asia, with some notes on its evolution Naturalis
Ouboter, P.E..
Of the genus Scincella Mittleman, 1950 (sensu Greer, 1974) 337 specimens from Asia were examined for 74 characters, which were treated in a numerical-taxonomic way. The dendrogram resulting from this analysis was not stringently adhered to. Because of the wide variation in certain numerical scale characters within one taxon or even within one population, these characters (used by many authors as key characters to separate taxa) are not regarded as very important. For sympatric and parapatric species other characters, including relative size of head, body and limbs, are regarded as very important, because these characters are influenced by the way of life (niche separation). For the separation of allopatric species scale-numbers, but many other characters...

New Scleractinian corals (Cnidaria: Anthozoa) from Sabah, North Borneo. Description of one new genus and eight new species, with notes on their taxonomy and ecology Naturalis
Ditlev, H..
Eight new species and one new genus of Scleractinian corals from Darvel Bay, North-western Borneo are described and illustrated. Enigmopora darveliensis, Acropora ridzwani, Lithophyllon ranjiti, Pectinia crassa, Mycedium spina, Plerogyra multilobata, Plerogyra diabolotus, and Plerogyra cauliformis. The evolutionary and distributional significance of the species is discussed. Borneo’s unique equatorial location and stable geological history are held responsible for its high diversity of corals with a number of unique species. The morphology of Enigmopora darveliensis is discussed and compared to other supposedly primitive extant corals. The endemic status of most of the Plerogyra species, with their unusually large polyps, is due to their narrow ecological...

[Proceedings of the 5th Symposium on Mesozoic and Cenozoic Decapod Crustaceans, Krakow, Poland, 2013: A tribute to Pál Mihály Müller / R.H.B. Fraaije, M. Hyžný, J.W.M. Jagt, M. Krobicki & B.W.M. van Bakel (eds.)]: A new shallow-marine munidopsid (Anomura, Galatheoidea) from the Upper Miocene in the Maroni-Psematismenos Basin of Cyprus Naturalis
Fraaije, R.H.B..
Several well-preserved remains of a new munidopsid anomuran, Palmunidopsis muelleri n. gen., n. sp., are described from a Late Miocene (Tortonian-Messinian) reef-associated decapod crustacean faunule of southern Cyprus. This is the first record of a Late Miocene representative of the family. The occurrence in very shallow-water, reefal limestones of the Koronia Member (Pakhna Formation) in southern Cyprus is atypical in comparison to the ecology of extant munidopsids.

Allocation of Laophonte trispinosa Sewell to Xanthilaophonte gen. nov. and the description of X. carcinicola spec. nov. (Harpacticoida: Laophontidae) Naturalis
Fiers, F..
Laophonte trispinosa Sewell is reported here from various localities in the Indian and the West Pacific Ocean, and is allocated to the herein erected genus Xanthilaophonte gen. nov. A second species, X. carcinicola spec. nov. is described from Indon »sia. The genus Xanthilaophonte gen. nov. is most closely related with Echinolaophonte Nicholls. Both species of this genus live in association with decapods, mainly Xanthidae, and occur on the carapax of their hosts, between the bristles. Comparison of the copepodid development clearly shows that the advanced morphology of Xanthilaophonte gen. nov. resulted from heterochrony events.

A new species of living glass-scallop, genus Similipecten (Bivalvia, Propeamussiidae), from the Bahama Islands (West Indies) Naturalis
Dijkstra, H.H..
Introduction Redfern described and figured a propeamussiid species (as Cyclopecten sp.) from the Bahama Islands, which he compared with Cyclopecten nanus Verril & Bush in Verrill, 1897,known from the sub-tropical and tropical western Atlantic. In fact, both species are more morphologically related to Similipecten than to Cyclopecten and therefore both are here classified with Similipecten.
