| O pulgão Aphis gossypii Glover é vetor do vírus do mosaico das nervuras do algodoeiro (VMNA), que pode ocasionar sérios prejuízos à cultura algodoeira. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito da época de inoculação do VMNA pelo pulgão no desenvolvimento e na produção das plantas de algodoeiro. O ensaio foi conduzido em casa-de-vegetação da UNESP - Universidade Estadual Paulista, em Jaboticabal, SP. Plantas de algodoeiro da cultivar CNPA ITA 90 com 20, 27, 34, 41, 48 e 55 dias após a emergência (DAE) receberam um adulto áptero e virulífero de A. gossypii, que permaneceu confinado nas plantas por um Período de Acesso à Inoculação (PAI) de 48h. | It is controversial the role played by Meliponina bees in the pollination of mass flowering trees with small generalized flowers (FMPG), very common group of trees in the tropical forest canopy. The species richness and relative abundance of flower visiting insects of the mass flowering tree Stryphnodendron pulcherrimum were measured to test the hypothesis of tight ecological association between these generalist bees and FMPG and to evaluate the effect of this relationship upon the reproductive success variation among tree crowns. O café é um repositório natural de espécies de Tephritidae que infestam frutas de importância econômica. | The greenbug Schizaphis graminum (Rondani) is one of the most important cereals pests in the world. Within populations of this species, several biotypes, which are clones that share same virulence relationships with cultivated plants, can be distinguished. Molecular markers have been used to genetically characterize insect populations because they are fast and cost effective. In order to find RAPD markers to identify Brazilian S. graminum biotypes, nineteen clonal populations of three biotypes (B, C and E) from Brazil and three clonal populations from the U.S. were examined. | The population fluctuations, mortality in the immature phases and longevity of the Spartocera dentiventris (Berg) adults were studied in an experimental plot of Nicotiana tabacum (Solanaceae) at the Faculdade de Agronomia - Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre, RS, Brazil (30º 05' S and 51º 13' W). | Várias são as substâncias químicas usadas no controle de insetos, doenças e plantas invasoras, porém muitos desses produtos são tóxicos ao homem e aos animais, além de reduzir o potencial de controle de predadores, parasitóides e entomopatógenos. | O presente trabalho teve por objetivo identificar fontes de resistência em 30 genótipos de caupi, provenientes da Embrapa - Centro Nacional de Pesquisa do Meio Norte, ao caruncho Callosobruchus maculatus (Fabr.). Em teste sem chance de escolha, confinaram-se dois casais em 30 grãos de cada genótipo, efetuando-se cinco repetições em delineamento experimental inteiramente casualizado. | Variations in the adult male reproductive system among different groups of Hymenoptera offer characteristics that help studies on behavior and phylogenetics. The objective of this study was to describe the adult male reproductive system of three Trypoxylon (Trypargilum) species. For that, tissues were disseced, fixed in 2.5% glutaraldehyde in 0.1 M sodium cacodylate buffer, pH 7.2 and postfixed in 1% osmium tetroxide. | As espécies de pulgões Aphis gossypii e Myzus persicae são cosmopolitas e polífagas, causando prejuízos em plantas cultivadas. Os efeitos dos fungos entomopatogênicos Beauveria bassiana (isolado IBCB 66), Metarhizium anisopliae (isolado IBCB 121), Paecilomyces fumosoroseus (isolado IBCB 141) e Lecanicillium (= Verticillium) lecanii (isolado JAB 02) foram avaliados sobre ninfas de 3º ínstar de A. gossypii e M. persicae.
