Several marine campaigns aiming to collect marine demosponges for specific research projects on their taxonomy and biogeography and to study the phenology and distribution of Posidonia oceanica a long the Tunisian coasts were conducted these last 10 years. They allowed a scuba diving prospecting of the infra and circalittoral zones of 555 marine stations. This field work was an occasion to describe some bottom’s associations, to highlight the general state of the main communities, specially the Posidonia and the coralligenous formations, and to draw up a list of their mega benthic species. In general, both biota are well preserved along the Tunisian coasts. except for some black spots, mainly the one of the gulf of Gabes, where detailed analysis showed... |

As a result of taxonomic analysis and the abundance of benthic polychaetes abtained from the subtidal area in five profiles with 15 stations at depths between 3 and 23 m. in Manta Bay, eight species were identified in march, the most abundant one being Cossura brunnea of the Cossuridae family. Eight species were identified in august, represented by the most abundant species, Paraonis gracilis from the Paraonidae family. For the intertidal zone, five profiles in five different areas were analyzed, using techniques recommended by Roger J. Lincoln & Gordon Sheals (1979). Two species were identified in march and four in august, with the most frquent and abundant species being Anaitides madeirensis of the Phyllodocidae family in both seasons of the year.... |

Concentrations of major metals (Na, K, Ca, Mg) and some trace metals (Fe, Zn, Mn, Ni, Cu, Co, Pb, Cr, Cd) were determined in water, sediment, benthos and some common fish species from Lake Qarun. Water and sediment samples were collected from seven stations where, the benthos and fish species were collected from three sites representing east, middle and west of the lake. Distribution of studied metals showed that, east part generally had higher contamination than west one which may be attributed to the impact of pollution sources in this area which coming from El-Batts Drain and pumping station in the east part. Mollusca and Crustacea especially Barnacles have the highest concentrations of most heavy metals measured more than Polychaeta which make them... |

In this study, 21 stations were sampled, 11 in the Djerba island coast and 10 in the western coast of Tunis bay. Then, samples were sifted on a square mesh of 1 mm a side, and the animals collected were identified and counted. Lacking an efficient single index suitable for application in all situations, several traditional nonparametric indices of biodiversity were selected, calculated and discussed. Results show that the community composition is totally different in the two studied sites, and, within each site, several species are common, butthey exchange the leader ranks from one station to another. For biodiversity measurement and since results show varying values depending on indices at several stations, an arithmetic mean index was calculated at each... |

This is a study on surficial sediments and bottom water physico-chemical characteristics of the San Jorge Gulf (SW Atlantic, Argentina)during spring 1999 - winter 2000 (first studied period), autumn 2001- summer 2002 (second studied period)and winter 2003 (third studied period), based on samples obtained during research cruises carried out on board of the INIDEP (Instituto Nacional de Investigación y Desarrollo Pesquero)research vessels. Environmental variables such as temperature, salinity, density, oxygen and bottom water chlorophyll a content as well as granulometric fractions, total organic matter, total organic carbon, total nitrogen, total phosphorous, chlorophyll a and phaeopigments in sediment concentration and depth were analyzed. The origen and... |
