Duurzaam bodembeheer maïs: Maïs en Bodem jaarrapport 2016. Organic Eprints
Riemens, Marleen; Huiting, H.; Deru, Joachim; Schooten, H.A. van; Weide, R..

L’objectif...

ORGANIC POTATO CROPS ARE IMPROVED BY INOCULATING A MICROBIAL INOCULUM TO THE CUT SURFACE OF SEED TUBERS Organic Eprints
Xu, Hui-lian; Li, Fenglan; Su, Feifei; Qin, Feifei; Chang, Tingting.
Potato seed tubers are usually cut into blocks to reduce seed cost, break dormancy and induce dominance. In chemical farming, the cut surface is usually treated with fungicides to avoid infection. In the present research, the cut surface of the seed tuber blocks was treated with a microbial inoculum mixed into bamboo charcoal powder and dried for a moment. Inoculating and drying the cut trace of seed tuber blocks induced activation of the antioxidant enzymes SOD and POD. Properly drying the cut trace induced osmotic adjustment, leaf turgor improvement, disease resistance and yield increase in the potato crop. The treatments were more effective in the soil with compost applied onto the surface. The treatments with sterilized inoculum were more effective...

Montemurro, F.; Diacono, M.; Convertini, G; Vitti, C; Verrastro, V; Ceglie, F.G.; Erriquens, F..

Distinct Nitrogen Provisioning From Organic Amendments in Soil as Influenced by Farming System and Water Regime Organic Eprints
Lori, Martina; Symanczik, Sarah; Mäder, Paul; Efosa, Norah; Jaenicke, Sebastian; Buegger, Franz; Tresch, Simon; Goesmann, Alexander; Gattinger, Andreas.
The majority of soil organic nitrogen (N) is bound in protein-like compounds and therefore its proteolysis in peptides and amino acids is considered the initial and rate limiting step of N mineralization. Proteolysis of N bound in organic fertilizer and subsequent provisioning for crops is a central element in agro-ecological intensification. Long-term farming system effects on N provisioning from organic fertilizer to crops and its underlying functional microbial communities were analyzed in experiments conducted in soils from the “DOK” system comparison trial (bio-Dynamic, bio-Organic, and “Konventionell”) subjected to optimal and future projected drought scenarios. A plant nutrition experiment using 15N labeled lupine as a fertilizer (green manure)...

Einfluss der Wirtschaftsdüngerform auf die Entwicklung von Dauergrünlandbeständen im Berggebiet Organic Eprints
Starz, Walter; Steinwidder, Andreas; Pfister, Rupert; Rohrer, Hannes.
In this study slurry, manure and compost from dairy cattle were used on a newly sown meadow. The influence of these three fertilisers on botany and forage yield were tested in a randomized block design. The amount of farm fertilizers was calculated by 1.2 LU ha-1 considering quantity storage losses. No differences between used organic farm fertilisers in botanical composition were found. The highest LAI (4,7 ground level) and the highest dry matter yield of 11,045 kg DM ha-1 were measured in slurry fertilisation.

Short-term effects of different techniques to prepare an organic citrus soil for replanting on its microbiological and biochemical properties Organic Eprints
Albiach, Remedios; Pérez-Piqueres, Ana; Domínguez, Alfons; Pomares, Fernando; Canet, Rodolfo.
Adopting measures to increment soil levels of organic matter and biological activity is key when an agrosystem is going to be converted to organic management. Nutrient reserves are increased and more easily mobilized, and soil suppresivity is enhanced. This last aspect is particularly relevant in replantations where chemical disinfection treatments can not be used and plantlets are very sensitive. A field trial is therefore being carried out to study the effects on soil biochemical and microbiological properties of different techniques(disinfectant vegetal cover, organic amendment and biofumigation, with untreated and solarized controls) to prepare the soil for replanting in a citrus orchard in convertion to organic management. This work discusses the...

Unterschiedlich aktive C-Pools im Boden: Corg, POS, CO2. 2. Vergleich der Parameter und Methoden zur Beurteilung der Bewirtschaftung Organic Eprints
Raupp, Joachim; Oltmanns, Meike.
Description and assessment of soil organic matter are usually based on either stock parameters (e.g. Corg, carbon soluble in hot water, particulate organic matter fractions, humic acids, humins etc.) or activity parameters like soil respiration, microbial biomass (CFE, SIR), enzyme activities, Biolog® analysis, incubation tests. Each parameter describes a specific part of soil organic carbon and specific turnover processes in the complex action of carbon mobilization / immobilization. With 3 selected parameters: organic carbon content (Corg), particulate organic matter content (POM) and carbon dioxide development after re-wetting of air-dried soil samples (CO2 flush in 24 h) and their results obtained in a long-term fertilization trial the pros and cons of...

Organic Eprints
Elsäßer, PD Dr. Martin; Kunz, Dipl.Ing.(FH) Hans-Georg.
In a 22-year-old experiment in Southwest Germany, the effects of different fertilization systems (organic and mineral fertilizers) on permanent grassland were investigated. The effects were investigated under cutting and mown pasture with two grazing periods per year. The experiment had 8 fertilizer treatments and 3 replications, the size of field plots were 25 m2 in area. Dry matter (DM) yields and mineral contents in soil and forage (P, K) were measured. The botanical composition was investigated each second year. Maximum DM yields were obtained by mineral NPK fertilization and a treatment called ‘alternating fertilizer’, with yearly alternating use of farmyard manure, liquid manure and mineral NPK. The application of composted farmyard manure...

Overall study of compost water extract application through fertigation system in organic farming Organic Eprints
NIKOLIC, Jovan.
The aim of this work was to obtain a number of complete soluble compost extracts rich in micronutrients, which can safely be used for fertigation through modern irrigation systems in organic farming system. Evaluation of their effects was conducted on potato crop var. Draga and soil fertility. During the extraction experiment two different composts (Farm compost and Commercial compost) were treated with water to obtain following dilution ratios: 1:5, 1:10, 1:20. Most chemical parameters of the compost extracts generally reflect the chemical composition of the starting material. These six dilutions were applied during the growing season. The control shows the highest tuber yield (22.1 tons/ha) followed by FC20 treatment (21.03 tons/ha). The number of tubers...

The effect of different compost applications in organic production of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) Organic Eprints
Kir, A.; Tepecik, M.; Abaci, O..
It is well-known that compost and manure applications to all kinds of soils if these organic materials are mature and composted under favorable conditions result in improved soil fertility and crop production in terms of yield and quality, but because manure is expensive in our region and the application of in-farm production compost for organic lands and farms of Turkey is limited, there is a great and urgent need for demonstrate compost using advantages to soil fertility, plant yield-quality and food safety (Kir 2006). Vegetables account for only approximately 2% of total organic production in Turkey, but there is great potential for growth of organic production for both export and domestic consumption of organic products in our country. Lettuce (Lactuca...

Scheffler, Simon; Schmidtke, Knut.

Rasche, Frank; Widmer, Franco; Mäder, Paul; Gattinger, Andreas; Fliessbach, Andreas.
