| Au cours d'un travail précédent (1) nous avons exposé : les résultats acquis au cours de trois années d'observations suivies sur les pêcheries harenguières de la Manche orientale, la méthode et la technique employées. Les résultats suivants ont été obtenus après étude du matériel prélevé au cours de la saison de pêche de 1929 dans la même région. La même technique ayant été régulièrement suivie dans nos observations, la même méthode de prélèvements fréquents et groupés par régions déterminées ayant été continuée, ces résultats nouveaux viennent compléter ceux précédemment acquis et confirmer les quelques considérations antérieurement suggérées. | The relations between the activity of the digestive enzymes amylase and proteases were studied on Artemia salina L. For this purpose, a method for measuring the ingestion was developed compatible with the speed of response of the digestive enzymes. It is demonstrated that the proteic density variations in Artemia of the same size are in relation to the food content of their digestive tract. Therefore the measurement of the size and weight of proteins (proteic density) allows the evaluation of the ingestion. With the aid of this method, a daily ingestion rhythm, with bimodal character, could be demonstrated. | THE Walvis Ridge is a non-continuous aseismic feature in the south-eastern Atlantic Ocean with a general trend north-east/ south-west. Close to the principal interruptions of the ridge is a north-south topographiç lineation shown on Simpson's map (Fig. 1). The ridge appears to be attached at its northeast end to the shelf of Angola and South-west Africa and at its south-west end to the east flank of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge through two volcanic islands, Tristan da Cunha and Gough (Fig. 1). | Nannofacies of Leg 40 cores have been studied with two main objectives in mind: (1) describing in detail Lower Cretaceous black shales (mainly from Site 361) and (2) defining carbonate dissolution cycles. For this purpose samples from Sites 360, 361, 362, 363, and 364 have been examined using classical analysis methods (grain size, amount of CaCO3, smear slides, etc.), and the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). The methods of nannofacies study and interpretation used here were previously described by Noël (1969, 1970).Each sample will first be described in general, then observations will be given. | A method for nutrition, production and ecological studies by calculation of amylase specific activity of zooplankton is described. The method's adjustment is based on the biochemical properties of the enzyme. The activity measurement of a single Artemia salina, a few Copepods, or of the whole contents of a net is possible with 5 % accuracy. | Ten conventional oceanic surface heat flow measurements were made over the northern margin of the Bay of Biscay in the vicinity of the DSDP Sites 400 to 402 during the R/V Suroit - SU 01 (December 1975) and R/v Jean Charcot - CH 66 (February 1976) cruises of CNEXO. | Amino acids are known to elicit feeding behaviour in adult fish. Larval fish also respond to amino acids. The behaviour of larval herring in gradients of amino acids was analyzed to see how responses to amino acids might aid in food finding or allow larvae to remain in patches of food. No reflex-like behaviour patterns were found. Olfactory cues seem to prepare larvae to receive secondary, probably visual. |

| The different hypotheses proposed for the creation of the Bay of Biscay are reviewed. New geological and geophysical data collected in the last two years in the Bay and in the Pyrenean domain give new insight into the tectogenesis of the Pyrenees. Geological data of the Pyrenean area provide tight constraints on the hypothesis of formation of the Bay. The most probable hypothesis is an opening by rotation of the Iberian Peninsula around a pole of rotation situated near Paris, which resulted in strike-slip motion dong the North Pyrenean fault during the Upper Mesozoic. A progressive westward migration of the pole initiated in the late Cretaceous blocked the motion dong the fault and led to the main Eocene tectogenetic Pyrenean phase. [NOT CONTROLLED OCR] |

| The repopulation of the oyster deposits of the Auray River seems to take place with a lot less intensity downstream than upstream. One might take into account the fact that the bottom of the oyster part of the river (Ours, Rohello, Loqueltas banks) counts less adult oysters than the top (Rosnarho, Plessis, Marie, Sainte-Avoye banks). But one must also note that the deposits stand next to each other and that the top of the most upstream bank is only 5 kilometres away from the bottom of the most downstream one. Consequently, the oyster larvae from the "abounding" part of the river can easily, thanks to the currents, go and fix in the "poorer" part. [...] |

| The MAPCO cruise of the R.V. Jean-Charcot (October-November, 1979) sampled zero-age basalts along the Mid Atlantic Ridge from the Azores triple junction to 24°N. Preliminary shipboard geochemical analyses together with previOusly collected data show that hygromagmaphile elements are not randomly distributed along the ridge. North from Hayes transform, the chondrite normalised diagrams of these elements show flat to enriched distributions for the most hygromagmaphile elements. South from this transform, these diagrams are systematically depleted for the most hygromagmaphile elements. These data are interpreted in terms of regional upper mantle heterogeneity. It is proposed that the boundary between the two plates extended West of the Pyrenees, along the Spanish marginal trench to end West of King's trough at a triple point junction.
