Ling (Genypterus blacodes) resource was assessed by means of an age structured production model fitted with stock abundance indices from catch per unit effort data (CPUE) obtained from the commercial fishing fleet. Reproductive stock was assessed in the same way with CPUE data from the fishery research vessel. A short-term analysis of collapse risk as a function of 1999 and 2000 fishing mortalities was carried out with the results, and also a long-term analysis with the assumption of a variable fishing mortality (F) with two recruitment hypotheses. Results show that the present state of the Ling resource has worsened with respect to the last assessment. It describes the fishing gear and fishing operations and presents the available information on selectivity and discards. The paper shows the data landings separated by fleet. Two dynamic production models were applied to assess the status of ling Genypterus blacodes stock in the SW Atlantic. The simplest (biomass dynamic model)and a more complex one (structured production model) were fitted with commercial CPUEs as abundance indices. Ling is one of the most important demersal fishes in Argentine waters. It is a demersal fish found between 35°and 55°S that shows the highest concentration in summer, between 42°and 48°S. In winter, schools disperse over the whole range of distribution. Argentine ling fishery started developing in 1986 when catches surpassed 15000 mt/year to stabilize, in recent years, at around 23000 mt/year. The present paper deals with the standing stock (Pw1)of the common hake (Merluccius hubbsi)and the austral hake (Merluccius polylepis), using the swept are method (Alverson, 1971)and with the Potential Yield (Cmax)using the Gulland (1970)method. The standing stock of the common hake was 2.642.715 tons. the highest concentrations of this specie were distributed over 12.348 nm² (13 o/o of the toal distribution area)with 1.178.843 tons. This area was located between 41° and 45° of south latitude and between the coast and 100 m of bottom depth in the Patagonian Shelf. Après la mise en place de la ZEE à 200 miles en 1978, la pêche au chalut pélagique s’est développée très rapidement en Mauritanie. Avec un effort de pêche pratiquement multiplié par 10 entre 1979 et 1983. De 1979 à 1986, sept pays ont participé plus ou moins régulièrement à l’exploitation des ressources pélagiques côtières de la ZEE mauritanienne, avec des chalutiers pélagiques de gros tonnage. Trois pays : l’Allemagne de l’Est, la Roumanie et l’URSS ont réalisé, selon les années, entre les ¾ et la totalité de l’effort total, et de 80 à 100% des captures totales. In this paper the ling Genypterus blacodes females Lm50. is estimated with frequencies of mature fish determined by microscope diagnosis of ovaries collected during the spawning season (SW Atlantic). The Lm50. of ling was estimated at 70.5 cm of total length (TL), which corresponds to an age of 4.5 years. The maturity process occurs between 63 and 78 cm TL (between 3.7 and 5.4 years). The exploitation status of cardinalfish (Epigonus crassicaudus) yielded in Chile between 33° to 41°S was analyzed. An indirect assessment was performed between 1997 and 2003 through size-structured model with a transition matrix defining the changes among sizes. The model was calibrated using size structures, official landings, catch-per-unit of effort (CPUE) taken from commercial fishing logbooks and standardized by generalized linear models (GLM).
