การจัดเขตศักยภาพการผลิตข้าวจังหวัดกำแพงเพชรและจังหวัดตาก Thai Agricultural
Kawaporn Phumchaei; Kingkaew Kunket.
Potential Zoning for rice production in the Lower North was carried out in Kamphaeng Phet and Tak Provinces during 2010-2011. The main objective was to create a database for area and appropriate technology for rice production. Procedures started with a survey on soil fertility and rice yield from the areas having soil suitable for rice growing. This was followed by the investigation on appropriate technologies to increase yield potential. Results have shown that the paddy fields in Kamphaeng Phet had an average pH of 5.45, 2.16% organic matter (O.M.), 19.23 ppm Phosphorus (P) and 76.83 ppm Potassium (K), respectively. The major soil texture is Loam having an average rice yield of 560 Kg/rai. Similar procedures were followed for Tak province of which an...

Gender analysis of technology utilisation among small scale oil palm fruits processors in Ondo State, Nigeria Acta Agron. (Palmira)
Gbenga F.,Koledoye; Olanike F,Deji.
The study identified the types of improved technologies utilised, tracked gender involvement at the various stages of oil palm fruits processing activities with a view to highlighting differences in the utilisation of these technologies among male and female processors. Multistage sampling technique was used to select 240 (120 males and 120 females) oil palm fruits processors using structured interview schedule. Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and Gender Mapping (GM) were used to elicit qualitative data. Data collected were summarised with the aid of descriptive statistics while t-test was used to test the hypothesis. Results showed that sterilizer, digester and hydraulic hand press were utilised by both male and female processors. Results of t-test revealed...

Performance of bean ( Phaseolus vulgaris L.) genotypes in the second-season under high and low technology management in Parana, Brazil Acta Agron. (Palmira)
Brusamarello,Antonio Pedro; Oliveira,Paulo Henrique; Sebim,Danilo Eduardo; Baretta,Douglas Rodrigo.
Abstract In the face of bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) crops with low grain yield in Brazil, specifically in the state of Parana-Brazil, this research aimed to evaluate the agronomical performance of different genotypes grown in the second-season under high and low technology management. The experimental design was a randomized block design with three replications in a 3x13x2 triple factorial arrangement, where Factor A was composed of three years of cultivation (second-season 12/13, 13/14 and 14/15), Factor B consisted of 13 bean cultivars (BRS Campeiro; BRS Esplendor; IPR Gralha; IPR Tuiuiú; IPR Uirapuru; BRS Ametista; BRS Estilo; BRS Notável; BRS Pérola; IPR 81; IPR Campos Gerais; IPR Curió and IPR Tangará) and Factor C consisted of 2 levels of...

Effect of biomass reduction on the fermentation of cider BABT
Nogueira,Alessandro; Mongruel,Caroline; Simões,Deise Rosana Silva; Waszczynskyj,Nina; Wosiacki,Gilvan.
The aim of this work was to determine the influence of biomass reduction in the cider processing and the quality of the fermented product made on laboratory scale, but in the same conditions usually found in factory units. The must, made with apples of the Gala variety, depectinized and transferred to 500 mL-fermenters, was inoculated with 2.0x10(6) cfu/mL of natural or commercial yeast, and at each 12 hours biomass was removed by centrifugation in one flask of the experimental set, and the must was left to ferment. All seven flasks of the fermented beverage were analyzed for 20-26 days after the inoculation, and the results showed that the best moment for biomass removal was 1.5-2.0 days of fermentation, leading to a product with significant residual...

Innovation in the agricultural sector: Experiences in Latin America Ciencia e Investigación Agraria
Chávez,Ricardo X; Lombeida,Emma D; Pazmiño,Álvaro M; Vasconez,Flora del C.
This article is about the evolution of the agrarian sciences and how innovation plays a crucial role in its development. It also notes how not all innovations have had a positive impact on ecosystems and biodiversity. Such is the case for the relentless advancement of agro-industrial production, which oriented toward obtaining more efficiency and profits, and supported by monocultivation and transgenic varieties through intensive and extensive cultivation. Different alternatives that involve the application of present and ancient knowledge must be used to achieve food sovereignty and safety, based on multidisciplinary knowledge, co-production between public Universities, different types of small-scale farmer and research centers supported by inclusive...

Factors influencing the adoption of improved cultivars: a case of peach farmers in Pakistan Ciência Rural
Ullah,Arif; Khan,Dilawar; Zheng,Shaofeng; Ali,Uzair.
ABSTRACT: This study aimed to investigate factors influencing the adoption of improved cultivars (ICs) in peach production in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. A total of 270 respondents were randomly selected from the three different cultivated areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, namely, Peshawar, Nowshera and Swat. Binary choice model was used in this study to categorise the ICs of peach farmers into adoption and non-adoption. The study identifies that socio-economic, institutional farm resources, and climatic factors are influencing the adoption of ICs of peach production. Results of the estimated model reveal that farmer’s age, education, household size, membership, cell phone, farm size, extension services and the role of the non-government...
