| The main objective of this thesis was to elucidate the effects of regrowth grass silage and red clover silage on nutrient supply and milk production of dairy cows as compared with primary growth grass silages. In the first experiment (publication I), two primary growth and four regrowth grass silages were harvested at two stages of growth. These six silages were fed to 24 lactating dairy cows with two levels of concentrate allowance. Silage intake and energy corrected milk yield (ECM) responses, and the range in these response variables between the diets, were smaller when regrowth silages rather than primary growth silages were fed. | Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit wurde untersucht, ob das kommerzielle Mistel-Präparate (Viscum album) Iscador®M (Weleda, Arlesheim) bei gesunden und chronisch an Mastitis erkrankten Kühen einen immunmodulatorischen und –stimulatorischen Einfluss besitzt. Zunächst wurden bei gesunden Kühen die Lokalreaktion und Gewebeverträglichkeit bei subkutaner Verabreichung von Iscador®M evaluiert und eine etwaige klinische sowie immunstimulierende Wirkung überprüft. This project concerned the effects of clover varieties and spring applications of animal manure on the yield of grass-white clover mixtures on a moist sandy soil (1993-1996).
