| The distribution of Fe, Cu, Zn, Pb, Cd between the dissolved (<2 mu m) and the particulate (>2 mu m) fractions was measured after in-situ filtration in two hydrothermal habitats. The total metal concentration ranges exhibit a clear enrichment compared with the seawater concentration, accounting for the hydrothermal input for all the metals considered. Iron is the predominant metal (5-50 mu M) followed by Zn and Cu. Cd and Pb are present at the nM level. At the scale studied, the behavior of temperature, pH and dissolved iron is semi-conservative whereas the other dissolved and particulate metals are characterized by non-conservative patterns. | The Videocor 1 expedition had the double objective of conducting the first scientific cruise of the new born Hybrid-ROV Ariane and collecting data, images and samples from cold-water corals in the Parc National des Calanques, near Marseille, France. Photos and videos will be used to measure the surface covered by this ecosystem and calculate several metrics using 3D optical mapping to reconstruct geo-referenced and scaled 3D models of seafloor scenes from multiple image frames. Some colonies were also collected for the connectivity work package of the H2020-Atlas european project, both for reproductive studies of Madrepora oculata and for the assessment of Mediterranean-Atlantic genetic connectivity http://www.euatlas. org/. |

| The interpretation of high-resolution 2D marine seismic profiles together with the analysis of sea-bottom cores allowed a stratigraphic and structural framework of the Provence continental shelf to be proposed. The integration of onshore and offshore stratigraphy, structure and geomorphology provided new insights into Messinian paleotopography and paleohydrography. A geological map of the offshore Provence continental shelf, isobath map of the base Plio-Quaternary surface are presented for the first time in this area. | Cette étude a été réalisée par l'Ifremer Toulon (LER/PAC) à la demande du MEDDTL (Ministère de l'Ecologie, du Développement Durable, des Transports et du Logement) dans le cadre de l'Evaluation Initiale pour la DCSMM (Directive Cadre pour la Stratégie sur le Milieu Marin). Elle recense les biocénoses, faciès et espèces observés pendant la campagne MEDSEACAN (Aamp/Comex). Les informations ont été extraites des enregistrements vidéos des 150 plongées de la campagne, et ont été organisées dans un SIG dans lequel sont géoréférencées les biocénoses, les faciès et les espèces observées dans les différents canyons. | The composition, biomass and diversity of the fauna in a Bathymodiolus thermophilus mussel assemblage colonizing diffuse flow areas on the SEPR is described and compared with biological characteristics of other hydrothermal assemblages. The spatio-temporal dynamics of temperatures over fine scales within the mussel habitat are characterized using newly-developed statistical approaches. Temperature data obtained from two adjacent habitats (a cirriped assemblage and a bare substratum) are compared. | Since its description from the Galapagos Rift in the mid-1980s, Archinome rosacea has been recorded at hydrothermal vents in the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian Oceans. Only recently was a second species described from the Pacific Antarctic Ridge. We inferred the identities and evolutionary relationships of Archinome representatives sampled from across the hydrothermal vent range of the genus, which is now extended to cold methane seeps.
