This document presents four years of work by an Ifremer's prospective group on the research demand in the fields of fisheries and aquaculture in southern countries by 2025. The study focused on a retrospective assessment of the scientific cooperations conducted by the Institute with southern countries over the past twenty-five years. It was followed by a classic prospective ana/ysis based on the method of scenarios, comp/eted bya research on a wide range of published documents. The analysis identified the most Frequent research demands in five geographic areas of the southern hemisphere. The Primary Production Department of Singapore (PPD) studies covered the weaning of seabass from fingerlings stage onwards and the dietary protein requirement of early grow-out fish. Dietary protein requirement of early grow-out seabass was demonstrated to be between 40-50%, at dietary lipid level of 12%, using fishmeal protein. Nevertheless fish growth was significantly higher with trashfish feed, but apparent protein retention was significantly better with formulated feed. Soil borne diseases are highly important in organic grain legumes. Suppressive composts are an important measure to control soil borne pathogens in different crops. So far, reports on the foot rot causing pathogens in peas such as Fusarium spp., Phoma medicaginis, Mycospherella pinodes are rare. In our study Phoma medicaginis, Pythium ultimum and Fusarium avenaceum were significantly controlled with yard waste composts demonstrating the principal potential of composts to suppress these diseases.
