| ABSTRACT The larva of the whirligig beetle Enhydrus sulcatus (Wiedemann, 1821) is described and illustrated for the first time, including detailed morphometric and chaetotaxic analyses of the cephalic capsule, head appendages and legs. Larvae of Enhydrus Laporte, 1834 exhibit the characters traditionally recognized as autapomorphies of the family Gyrinidae: well developed cardo, completely divided prementum, presence of lateral abdominal tracheal gills, and presence of four terminal hooks on the pygopod. The egg bursters located on the parietal, the presence of an additional sensorial plate on the third antennomere, and a well developed lacinia may also represent autapomorphies of the family. | Generic keys for the identification of larvae of Dytiscidae from Argentina are presented. A total of 27 dytiscid genera are recognized in Argentina, included in 16 tribes and seven subfamilies. Twenty-two of the 27 genera are included in the keys. The remaining fi ve genera could not be included because their larvae are unknown (Bidessonotus Régimbart, Brachyvatus Zimmermann, Hemibidessus Zimmermann, Neobidessus Young) or remain poorly known (Cybister Curtis). | Se presenta el primer relevamiento de coleópteros acuáticos y semiacuáticos del Parque Provincial Ernesto Tornquist. El material entomológico estudiado se obtuvo durante las campañas de recolección de insectos acuáticos, realizadas entre los años 2005 y 2007, en las cuatro estaciones del año. Los ambientes estudiados fueron los arroyos Ventana, El Loro, Sauce Grande y dos charcos temporarios. Se identificaron en total 5.200 ejemplares pertenecientes a 9 familias, 20 géneros y 34 especies. Se brinda el listado de las especies y su distribución en la Argentina. Se citan, por primera vez para el parque, 23 especies y por primera vez para la Provincia de Buenos Aires: Austrelmis sp. e Hydrochus stolpi Germain. |

| A list of the species of aquatic Coleoptera inhabiting Chaco National Park and El Cachapé Wildlife Refuge, two protected areas located in the Humid Chaco eco-region, is presented for the first time. One hundred and twenty-two species included in 45 genera and 10 families were identified. Two species are new for Argentina: Ora atroapicalis Pic and Ora semibrunnea Pic (Scirtidae). | A list of the aquatic Coleoptera collected in El Cristal Natural Reserve is presented. Seventy-seven species included in 35 genera and six families were recorded. | Se realizó un estudio comparativo de la comunidad de insectos acuáticos presente en charcos temporarios de parques y plazas de la ciudad de Buenos Aires, y en lagunas permanentes de la Reserva Ecológica Costanera Sur, situada en la ribera del Río de la Plata. Se revisaron 3436 charcos y se visitaron, en 149 oportunidades, seis lagunas de la reserva. Para el conjunto de ambientes, se registraron 85 taxones pertenecientes a cinco órdenes de insectos. Los coleópteros fueron los más diversos (36 taxones), seguidos por los dípteros (27), heterópteros (17), odonatos (4) y efemerópteros (1).
