Avaliou-se a influência do manejo de aleitamento nos níveis de cortisol, no metabolismo e na produção de leite de vacas leiteiras. Utilizaram-se 18 vacas holandesas e seus bezerros alocados em três tratamentos: T1: as vacas foram separadas dos bezerros 6 horas após o parto, sendo mantidas com suas crias 60 minutos por dia nos três primeiros dias; T2: as vacas foram separadas dos bezerros 6 horas após o parto; T3: as vacas foram mantidas com seus bezerros durante os três primeiros dias de lactação, exceto no momento das ordenhas. Foram coletadas amostras de sangue 168 horas antes do parto, no dia do parto (0 hora) e 24, 48, 72 e 96 horas após o parto para a determinação de glicose, triglicerídeos, proteína total e cortisol. ABSTRACT This study was carried out to evaluate the effect of a blend of additives (choline, methionine, selenium, and organic zinc) on performance, feed efficiency, rumen parameters, and carcass traits of Nellore heifers finished with roughage-free diet. Nellore heifers (n = 36; average BW = 244±24.1 kg; average 24 months of age) were maintained in a feedlot system for 86 d. Heifers were separated into two groups: control and additive. Heifers in control group were fed a based diet composed of 850 g kg−1 corn grain and 150 g kg−1 of a mineral-vitamin-protein pellet. This research was conducted with objective to evaluate the effect of different zinc (Zn) sources and doses in the diet for Santa Ines sheep. Forty lambs at weaning, with 18.4 kg of body weight were supplemented with three different sources of zinc (zinc oxide (ZnO), zinc amino acid and zinc proteinate) and three doses of zinc (200, 400 and 600 mg/kg DM) added to the basal diet. At every 28 days, animals were weighted and blood samples were collected for analyses of zinc (Zn), alkaline phosphatase and immunoglobulin G (IgG) and M (IgM). Two experiments were carried out with twenty-four male weaned Holstein calves to verify the influence of different dietary cation-anion concentrate and roughage proportions on calves metabolism. In the first experiment, calves were fed rations with -100, +200 and +400 mEq cation-anion balance/kg of dry matter, containing 60% of roughage and 40% of concentrate. In the second experiment, calves (117.6±20.8 kg average weight) received rations with similar dietary cation-anion balance but in diets of 40% roughage and 60% concentrate. As the dietary cation-anion balance became more positive, there was a quadratic response of blood pH in both diets with 60 and 40% roughage.
