| La qualité microbiologique des zones de production conchylicole de la rivière de Pénerf (Morbihan) se dégrade depuis 2005, avec l'apparition d'alertes régulières, déclenchées dans le cadre du réseau de suivi microbiologique des zones de production de coquillages (REMI) de l'Ifremer. | L’ostréiculture constitue la principale activité aquacole française. Cette activité de quasi-monoculture, basé sur l’élevage de l’huître creuse, Crassostrea gigas, repose en grande partie sur le recrutement naturel de l’espèce qui assure 70% des besoins en jeunes huîtres (naissain). Or, depuis une dizaine d'années, dans les bassins d'Arcachon et de Marennes-Oléron, principaux centres de captage français pour l’huître creuse, la collecte du naissain ou captage devient encore plus variable qu’auparavant: à des années de captage presque nul (par exemple les années 2002, 2005, 2007) succèdent des années où il est surabondant (par exemple les années 2003 ou 2006). | Depuis 2008, la filière ostréicole française doit faire face à des surmortalités exceptionnelles des naissains d’huîtres creuses, Crassostrea gigas, (huîtres de moins d’un an) comprises entre 60 et 90% dans tous les sites d’élevage. Des cas de mortalité similaires ont été décrits en Irlande, dans les îles anglo-normandes, au Portugal en 2009 et au Royaume-Uni en 2010. | This study (“Risco”), implicating both industry, socio-economic experts and biologists, was funded by the Regional Council of Brittany, for 3 years (2010-2012), to investigate about the causes of oysters (Crassostrea gigas) mortalities in the bay of Quiberon (South Brittany, France). The protocol including both a sonar and video visualization of the bottom, and a monthly survey of 15 experimental oyster structures, allowed to assess the risk due to predation. | Dans le cadre d’une convention Ifremer-DGAL (2010-2011), une étude épidémiologique et écopathologique intégrative a été conduite en Rivière de Pénerf (Morbihan). Elle a permis de mettre en place un outil d’objectivation pour i) l’évaluation des mortalités par une enquête réalisée auprès de tous les professionnels et pour ii) l’acquisition de données sur la biomasse, les stocks présents (élevés et non élevés) et la bathymétrie du site. | The project “Risco”, supported by the “Pôle Mer” and funded by the Regional Council of Brittany, deals with specific risks of mortality of oysters, Crassostrea gigas, cultivated on the bottom, in a subtidal bay of South Brittany : the bay of Quiberon (56, France). Massive mortalities of oysters were reported in summer 2006 in this bay, exclusively located in the deep muddy area with a positive gradient eastward. A validated biogeochemical model was applied in order to simulate the dissolved oxygen over 2000-2006 : it revealed several episodes of hypoxia, more or less intense according to years, but with the same spatial distribution. | A numerical model (MARS-2D) was developed, with the aim of describing the hydrodynamics that prevail in Arcachon Bay. Direct model results as well as derived mixing and transport time-scales (tidal prism, local and integrated flushing times, age of water masses), were used to understand the behaviour of water masses and exchanges between the Bay and its frontiers. | In the context of global change, increasing mariculture production has raised particular concerns regarding its environmental impact and sustainability. Molluscs and particularly blue mussel account for a significant part of this total production. Although blue mussels are considered as pretty resilient to environmental disturbances, we report in this study an unprecedented mussel mortality event that occurred during the winter 2014 in the Breton Sound. 9000 metric tonnes of mussels were lost and mortality rates up to 100% were recorded at some farming areas. | To design a prototype for an Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS), at least three components are mandatory: a modeling platform, an in situ observing system and a structure to collect and to disseminate the information (e.g. database, website).
