Constantinescu,Gheorghe Mircea; Reed,Shannon Kelly; Constantinescu,Ileana Anghelina.
The digital flexor muscles of the thoracic limb of four llamas were dissected and illustrated to provide data about the suspensory (support) apparatus and weight bearing structures. An extensive literature search was performed and yielded incomplete information about these anatomical structures. The popularity of the llama world wide as a domesticated animal used for show and fiber has increased in the recent years. It is helpful to describe the anatomy fully to aid in understanding of the species and treatment of pathologic conditions. The description of the anatomical structures and the original illustrations demónstrate genuine peculiarities and differences between the llama and domestic ruminants. In llamas, the three heads of the deep digital flexor...

The Role of Antioxidants in Cerebellar Development: A Review of Literature International Journal of Morphology
Imosemi,I. O.
Developmental pathologies may result from endogenous or xenobiotic-enhanced formation of reacting oxygen species (ROS), which oxidatively damage cellular macromolecules and/or alter signal transduction, and that the embryonic processes regulating the balance of ROS formation, oxidative DNA damage and repair, and ROS-mediated signal transduction may be important determinants of teratological risk. ROS can oxidize molecular targets such as DNA, protein, lipid in a process called oxidative stress resulting in cellular dysfunction and in utero death or teratogenicity. This review, consisting of literature search of journals and chapters in books aims at highlighting the importance of the cerebellum in controlling various motor activities in the body, as well...

Two Cases of Left Vertebral Artery Emerging from a Trunk in Common with the Left Subclavian Artery from the Aortic Arch International Journal of Morphology
Ottone,Nicolás Ernesto; Casola,Leandro; Cirigliano,Vanina; Oloriz,Lucero; Blasi,Esteban Daniel; Medan,Carlos Daniel; Algieri,Rubén Daniel.
Anomalies arising in the embryological development of the aortic arch and its branches are essencial in the emergence of variations in the origin and course of supra aortic vessels. Classically, 95% of cases, the aortic arch gives rise to the brachiocephalic artery, left common carotid artery and left subclavian artery. While the left vertebral artery arises normally from the left subclavian artery. In this presentation we describe two cases of the left vertebral artery being born of the aortic arch. The importance of anatomical knowledge of this arterial variety is fundamental for base neck and aortic arch surgery, in cervicothoracic trauma that compromises the vascular elements and in endovascular procedures in the region.
