Comparison of soil preparation methods for direct-seeded rice in Tung Samrit area was conducted in order to evaluate the effectiveness of suitable dry direct seeding technique. The experiment was carried out in farmer’ fields in wet season 2012 using an RCB design with 4 replicates. Five treatments were tested consisting of 1) 2 ploughs, sowing and raking, 2) 1 plough, sowing and covering dry soil using a rotary, 3) 1 plough, sowing and covering moist soil using a rotary, 4) 2 ploughs, sowing and covering dry soil using a rotary, and 5) 2 ploughs, sowing and covering moist soil using a rotary. The results showed that the treatment 1 gave the highest plant density of 374 plants/sq.m. Both treatment 4 and 5 gave highest plant height of 142 – 144 cm. However,... |

Next Generation Sequencing (NGS): SOLiD System Sequencing Platform was applied to investigate the whole transcriptome of two hybrids (PTT06001H; H1 and PTT06008H: H2), two paternal lines (CK81; P1 and CK120; P2), and maternal line (IR79156; M). The data sets were aligned against the reference, precisely, the total numbers of the individual rice panicles sample aligned with Nipponbare ranking from the highest were as follows, P2 (9,747,077 reads), H1 (7,386,061 reads) , P1 (5,361,077 reads) , H2 (5,196,982 reads), and M (2,244,306 reads), respectively. The differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified and found that 2902, 1604, 3168, 3068, 1171, and 3031 genes were up-regulated (> 2 fold) between M vs. H1, P1 vs. H1, M vs.P1, M vs. H2, P2 vs. H2,... |

Filter cake is by - product of cane sugar manufacture. It consists of plant nutrient which is useful for soil fertility improvement. According to low fertility of most paddy soils, an experiment had been conducted with combination of chemical fertilizer application and filter cake incorporation for soil fertility and yield improvement in two different soil types in wet season during 1992-2002. This experiment was 4x3 factorial in randomized complete block design, 3 replications, 2 factors with 4 filter cake rates at 0, 500, 1,000 and 1,500 kg/rai and 3 nitrogen rates at 0, 3 and 6 kg N/rai for photo sensitive rice cultivar (Khao Dawk Mali 105) planted in Koksamrong Soil Series (sandy loam, mixed isohyperthermic, typic tropaqualfs) at Lop Buri Rice Research... |
