The objective of this study was to evaluate the operating performance of crop residue cutting discs with distinct cutting edges in the no-tillage system, in relation to the travel speed of the tractor/tool holder set. The experiment was carried out in an experimental area, the soil classified as Paleudalf. The experiment consisted in a factorial arrangement of 4x4, totaling 16 combinations of treatments and three replications, composed by the interaction of the factors: crop residue cutting discs (plain flat disc, wavy disc, rippled disc, and helical wavy disc coulter) and travel speed (1.11; 1.67; 2.22 and 2.78 m s-1). It was used a mobile tool holder structure for the coupling of the active organs, which was pulled by a farm tractor. For the collection... |

Despite numerous limitations, agricultural machinery (AM) manufacturing sub-sector inBangladeshis growing quite satisfactorily and has potential to make substantial contribution to much needed non-farm economic growth, employment generation, mechanization of on and off-farm agricultural activities, and as a whole orientation in the national development. This study made an attempt to take account of AM manufacturers, importers, traders/wholesalers and retailers, their associations, assess market potential and identify serious bottlenecks associated with this sub-sector. Stratified random sampling technique was used for identifying respondents in quantitative survey, while focus group discussions (FGDs) and Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) were conducted... |

the performance of agricultural machines depends on the reliability of the machinery used, the operating environment, the maintenance efficiency, the operating process, the technical expertise of the farmers and etc. As the size and complexity of farm equipment continue to increase, the implications of equipment failure become over more critical. Therefore, reliability analysis is required to identify the bottlenecks in the system and to find the components or subsystems with low reliability for a given designed performance. It is important to select a suitable method for data collection as well as for reliability analysis. This paper presents a case study describing reliability and availability analysis of the sugarcane 7000 series chopper harvester at... |

The power demand of the demolition of pineapple (Ananas comosus) fields, whose production cycle is finished with a flail mower with two different knives, a cutting apparatus with three angular velocities, and a tractor with three translation velocities, was determined using strain gage measures. The results of the investigations demónstrate the influence of the knife type and cinematic regime of the cutting apparatus in the demand of energy in the pineapple demolition. Furthermore, they permitted the validation of models of the power demand of the flail mower. |

ABSTRACT: Agricultural tractors have been reported to exert negative effects on operator health. It is well known that when a farm machine is designed it must consider the human factors, to raise the safety levels and work quality. The aim of the present study was to estimate the degree of vibration transmissibility from the agricultural equipment used for the periodic soil preparation process and determine the exposure of the whole body of the operator to the vibration, incident to the agricultural tractor during the operation. A 4x2 TDA tractor was employed, coupled to the periodic soil preparation equipment. Five sets were used (tractor- disk plough, tractor-moldboard plow, tractor-offset disc harrow, tractor-rotary hoe, and tractor-scarifier) and the... |

ABSTRACT: The objective of this research was to forecast the Brazilian national production of agricultural and road machinery in the short term by BOX & JENKINS methodology and determine the persistence effect. Data were obtained at National Association of Automotive Vehicle Manufacturers (ANFAVEA) from January 1960 to October 2019, totaling 718 monthly observations. The Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) and Autoregressive Conditional Heteroscedasticity (ARCH) methodology were used. The ARIMA (2,1,1)-ARCH (2) model was fitted and persistence of 0.60 was determined, showing that the instability in the series will be for a long period of time. |

ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of modifying the maintenance programming of equipment used in sugarcane mechanical harvesting, by transferring actions that can be planned to periods when machines are inactive due to meal breaks and other working shift transitions stoppages. A simulation model was developed to represent the maintenance procedures of combines, haulouts, and other vehicles used by a harvest team. Scenarios were tested using alternatives for interventions such as refueling, lubrication and harvester blade replacement, enabling strategies to be focused towards better utilization of cutting, loading, and transport (CLT) system equipment. As a result, it was possible to remove one combine and two haulouts, while... |

ABSTRACT Pesticide environmental risks and increased weed resistance have encouraged studies for alternatives to herbicides. Among these are weed thermal control methods by controlled heat application machines. Thus, this study aimed to test a prototype of heat-applicator machine as a function of changes in gas pressure, travel speed, and tire traffic effect on plants. Then, three experimental factors were tested: gas pressure (98, 196, and 245 kPa), travel speed (0.56, 0.78, and 1.17 m s−1), and tire traffic effect on plants (with and without traffic). The results showed that tire traffic effect on plants and subsequent heat application had no effect on control rate. Weed control rates reached levels considered satisfactory using a heat application speed... |

ABSTRACT Semi-mechanical and mechanical harvesting methods may influence the content of impurities in harvested sugarcane. This study aimed to evaluate the quality of three mechanical methods of sugarcane harvesting: one semi-mechanical, and two mechanical ones - self-performed and outsourced, during three working shifts. As quality indicators, both mineral and vegetal impurities were accounted. About 50 random samples were collected in the studied area during 35 harvest days and in three working shifts, for each harvesting method. Mineral impurities showed similar behavior for both self-performed and outsourced mechanical harvesting, thus displaying a low variability. On the other hand, vegetal impurities showed to be unstable for all three shifts.... |
