Objective: to evaluate and compare the economic, environmental, and eco-efficiency of companies operating in the forestry sector and fill the gap in relation to the lack of information about the theme. Theoretical framework: increased awareness of society around the traditional productive model and its impact on the environment demands that companies associate business competitiveness with environmental responsibility. Therefore, the disclosure of information and the analysis of it using methods such as the eco-efficiency approach are important to monitor the performance of companies. Methods: the Data Envelopment Analysis method was used with three proposed models: economic (desirable output); environmental with undesirable variables; and eco-efficiency... |

Accurate estimation of biomass in natural vegetation sites remains a challenge. Modeling biomass growth and production in Cerrado areas is crucial to understanding the vegetation succession process, especially regarding the changes in biomass accumulation over time. Thus, our objective was to model the growth and production of woody aboveground biomass (living and total) in a cerrado stricto sensu monitored for 27 years after implementing management systems. As expected, the basal area (with a diameter taken at 30 cm from the ground level) is the most important predictor variable and showed a higher correlation with the biomass stocks and allowed accurate and consistent estimates of these accumulated stocks over time. Future estimates of biomass... |

Abstract The aim of this study was to evaluate the litter dynamics in the seasons of the year in three areas: Forest formation Cerradão (CE), and in two hybrids stands of Eucalyptus urophylla × E. grandis with different ages: E1 (34-58 months) and E2 (58-82 months). The produced litter, stored litter and the remaining mass was collected over 720 days. The evaluation of the remaining litter mass in each area was performed from the random distribution of 648 litter bags on the soil. Chemical analyzes (N, P, C) and the structural components of the cell wall (lignin, cellulose and hemicellulose) of the remaining litter were performed. The C of the litter stock was also determined. For both years of evaluation were observed higher biomass and C content in... |
