In this study we investigated the relationship between tambaqui fish (Colossoma macropomumi Cuvier 1818) and parasites in two fish farms (L204S and L180N) in the state of Rondônia, Brazil, during a 1-year period. The objective of the study was to describe the relationships between parasites, hosts and the environment. From the 80 fish specimens collected, 100% were parasitized by at least one parasite species. Seven ectoparasites species were recorded, six of the class Monogenea: Anacanthorus spathulatusi, Mymarothecium spp. (Mymarothecium sp. 1, Mymarothecium sp. 2 and M. viatorum), Notozothecium sp. and Linguadactyloides brinkimanni, classified as dominants, and the copepod Perulernaea gamitanae, classified as subordinate. Los objetivos de este estudio fueron determinar la calidad del agua del cauce de la cuenca baja del río Jamapa en sitios donde se reciben efluentes, comparar la calidad de influentes y efluentes de las granjas acuícolas, así como conocer la actitud de los pobladores aledaños al cauce, sobre la preservación del recurso hídrico. Fish samples were collected from Lekki and Badagry lagoon and the Institute’s experimental fish farm, Lagos, from February 1983 to September 1984. Three thousand seven hundred and eighty six brooders and fingerlings rAnging between 3.5cm and 50.2cm in total length and weighing between 2.56g and 976,0g were examined. External parasites observed on Saratherodon galilaeus included monogenean trematodes, Gyrodactylus spp and Dactylogyrus spp; copepod, Argulus spp, and annelid (Piscilid) leeches on the body surface and gills. An analysis of data from a Tunisian farm during the months of June to November of the year 2008 is presented. These data were broken down into two sets the first concern sampled fish while towing them to farm (wild set), the second set concern sampled specimen at the end of fattening process (fattening set). The wild group comprised specimens ranging from 90 to 276 cm fork length, and the fattened group included specimens from 105 to 310 сm. Juvenile proportion (Lf<130 сm) in fattened specimen (15.7%) was considerably smaller compared to the proportion in wild specimens (61,8%). El bagre africano Clarias gariepinus es la principal especie dulceacuícola que se cultiva en Cuba, por su rusticidad en las condiciones económicas actuales del país. La alimentación de esta especie se lleva a cabo con una dieta comercial de tilapias a base de soya (Toledo et al., 2007) y desechos del procesamiento pesquero, dado que su cultivo es principalmente en estanques de tierra.
