| This document presents a comparative assessment of six triennal analysis carried out between 1986 and 2002, on 1300 boats, on average, from the 35 ports of Southern Bay of Biscay fishing fleets (from Loire river to Spanish border). Fisheries statistics allow the identification of different fishing practices and fishing boats associated with them within the fleets. In order to allow comparison and analysis of the evolution that has taken place during the study period, the same variables (gears used, landed species) and multivariate analysis procedures have been used to produce groupings of vessels. | L'activité du laboratoire « Ressources Halieutiques » de Lorient s'inscrit dans la mission de service public de l'Institut en général et des laboratoires côtiers en particulier. Elle comprend un volet « recueil et archivage » des données biologiques et halieutiques, une partie « recherche et application de la recherche » pour l'évaluation des pêcheries, et une partie « avis et expertises ». Ces activités s'inscrivent, en 2004, dans les nouveaux programmes SIDEPEC (Systèmes d'information, économie et diagnostic de l'exploitation et de l'évolution des ressources), ECOPEC (Démarche écosystémique pour l'évaluation des pêcheries) et Approche intégrée Golfe de Gascogne. | Small pelagic fish show a general decrease in size and body condition over the past two decades in the North-East Atlantic. The underlying factors are still not well understood, however recent studies point to a bottom-up control. In order to understand how the environment impacts the main biological functions, i.e. growth, reproduction and maintenance, we adopted a bioenergetic modelling framework based on the Dynamic Energy Budget theory. | The growth study of s tripped Mullet, from the Bay of Biscaye, from April to June is managed by scale reading. Sorne difficulties appear with the interpretation female scales. The Analysis of ovaries confirms that spring is the period of reproduction, and shows that the age of first reproduction is two year (65 %) or one year old (35 %). Secondly, the exploitation of various statistic data shows the evolution of landings of Stripped Mullet in several harbours, and especially in les Sables d'Olonne, since 1962.
